What type of selectable locker ARB or Auburn ECTED?

After a virgin run with my jeep (I just got everything hooked up and working) this last weekend at lefthand canyon. I realized that lockers make a huge difference. A buddy of mine has the ARB air lockers front and rear and he was able to craw up anything. I had trouble in easy spots and had to really use a heavy foot to get up things. I would much rather tread lightly. I thought that my rear axle (ford 8.8) had a posi in it . But after wheeling I realized that the code on the plate must have been wrong because only one wheel would spin .

I want a selectable locker and there really only seems two options for my setup D30 and 8.8. Either the tried and true ARB or a Auburn electric locker. I was leaning towards the electric locker because it is cheaper and easier to install. I was wondering if anyone was using the Auburn electric locker http://www.4wheelerssupply.com/catal...470_496_22_503 or had heard anything about them?

I used the Aussie locker in my 8.8 I put in my ZJ. It worked great on the street and on the rocks. Cheap too at $250. I got mine from Josh at Crawlertech.com.

I have an Aussie up front and OX in the back. Love em both but if you want selectable, I'd go OX.

ARB has a wonderfull instruction manual...and a fantastic 1-800 number.
If you understand the principal of backlash and preload, it is not that hard to install.

I would think there is about the same install for an air locker or an electric one...They both are put in the diff the same way, one needs an air line, one needs an electric line ran into the housing.

The Aussie seems to be a pretty good locker but I want something selectable.

Unfortunately OX only makes a locker for my front axle I haven't seen one for the 8.8 yet. I do like the fact that they supply you with new differential covers. Do you have to buy the cable separate? That?s an additional $100 or so making it the same price as a ARB.

Is anyone running one of the electric lockers? I know that Toyota puts one in from the factory. I wasn't sure what brand it was.

If no one has anything bad to say about them then I might be the guinea pig and try them out.

I did see on this thread http://www.colorado4x4.org/vbb/showthread.php?t=74397 that crawertech4x4 said that the detroit electrac lockers were weak compared to the other selectable lockers.

BS, that's just one person's opinion. I've had one in my front D44 for several years now, and have run everything from Die Trying in Montrose to Pritchett Canyon in Moab with no problems. However, since Eaton recently purchased Tractech, one of the first things they did was discontinue the Electrac so that's no longer an option. If I ever replace my front locker it'll be with an ARB.
