    The Wells books.

I just went to their web site funtreks and purchased the newer one published in May '05 which is the second edition of the first book and their new Northern Colorado Trails that replaces volume 2, it was just published this month (6-06) and has not hit the shelfs yet in most places from what I found.

Just thought I'd let everyone know abut that, it may have already been posted.

For an extra $3 you can order them spiral bound. That's a good deal. I took my originals to Kinko's to be spiral bound and it cost a LOT more than $3 per book.
    Funny, I don't remember being absent-minded.

Spiral bound would be really nice. I've bought probably 3 ea of both CO books and the Moab book because the bindings keep ripping apart. It's about time to order another set of all 3, so I'll be getting them spiral bound.

Make sure you still keep the old version of the first book. There are some trails in it that are not in the newer edition.

Yep I ordered both of mine with the spiral bidning as well... Awesome feature I think. And I"m with you, I wouldnt toss my old ones out any way, paid to much for them . I have not taken mine with a bunch, so they are like brand new, simply becasue its hard to keep your spot while on the trail and flip thru to find what your looking for but the spiral will be killer.

No prob posting it your very welcome. I had actually asked Dads5.9 where he bought his but didnt want to go to a book store and pay more so I looked it up on line and just happened to find yet another new one.

One thing I did notice and asked about is that they offer the new book 1 on the front page for 16.95 but when you check out it says 21.95 so I asked them about that. We'll see...

Just got both new editions in the mail with the spiral binding and they are super nice. Now that I see them there is no reason to get them with out it if you are going to take them out with you. Very, very nice for just 3 bucks.

While no picture does much justice to trails and especially obstacles these are loaded with Pictures and while they are also black and white they are great. Very well done books.

Also they did honor the price on the front page. They emailed me and explained that there was a type-o and that it has been fixed. Even though I told her not to worry I'd just pay the full amount they wouldn't let me and gave me both for 16.95 each...

T3 I'll post'em up, just dont have the book here with me at work. There are a number of them that I have never heard of in both books. Infact according to the book all the trails in the Gleenwood area of the book are new trails to are considered difficult, but then again they list MSV/Coney as difficult. I always have to try to keep in mind that for the most part they are rated for a mostly stock rig.

If you go to their website, you can look at the trail list for each book on-line.

Also got my new spiraled N. Colorado book. I really like the spiral feature. Definately hold onto your old versions if you have them. The new one doesn't have any of the trails on 287 (Poudre Canyon), but the old ones do. Not sure why this happened.

I asked the Funtreks folks about sending in already purchased books to have the spiraling done, and they say to just run to Kinkos. Apparently they do them for $5.

Kinkos charges $3.00 per volume for comb binding, $4.00 per volume for coil binding. If the size is not 8.5x11 there is a $5.00 setup fee for each adjustment of the machine. Coil binding 2 of Wells' books would be $13.00 (2 volumes @ $4 each plus the $5 setup fee.)

Looks like there are some omitted from the newer volumes, x2. Just browsing through I noticed that Crystal Mtn isn't in the N-CO one.

I just had 3 wells books, and one massey/wilson book done at FedEd/Kinkos for $17.17. Not a bad deal if I do say so myself... but I didn't get extra covers for each which lowered the price by $1 per book. I'll use clear packing tape. LOL
