21 Rd with the TRR & the GJ crew...and Wally

    What's wrong with these pictures???

So the Trail Ridge Runners went to GJ to run 21 Road, Teron and I leading the trail, and Shawn with his wife Chris joining us from the club. Friday night I call Steve to see what he's up to on Saturday and all I had to say was 21 Road and he said sounds good to me!
The funny thing about the pics above is that Wally didn't really want to go with us - he had house chores to do, but Friday night after a few beers and he heard that Steve was going he changed his mind....maybe he should not have.

Please note, yes, he flopped twice - hard the first time - in spots I've seen him drive with no issues. I guess since I wasn't driving he wanted to show me up with two flops on opposite sides, and a breakage!!!
    ...more pics to come!

Wally, how come you didn't give us a big show like this when we came out last week? I'm really dissapointed now just seeing the pictures. also now I see why your frame is toast.

So our day starts out a bit off normal - we don't have to work on anyones rig at the trail head! But we did have to replace a center pin on the Valtastrophe prior to leaving the house...sorry we were late guys!
We drop into the trail and at the first obstacle Steve is having issues with the bronco - the tranny isn't engaging...sort of. (4-Low Steve )ya didn't think I'd let that one slip by did ya!

Here's Mike with his purdy TJ - not a scratch on it!

    The Pagan & Kanga:

Kanga is one of the coolest wheeling dogs - totally watches the lines and hates it when she has to get out and can't ride with dad.

Here is where the trouble for Wally starts:

oops. That's not supposed to point at the tire.

So Mike was nice enough to drive Wally into town and hit Napa for a new part. While they were shopping, Shawn, Teron, Steve and I moved Wally's rig off the rocks and straightened out the wheels. This little guy made sure we didn't screw up his house while we winched the YJ off the rocks. His house was not touched.

Then we continued on! Wally told us to, just so ya'll don't think we left him.
Further up the trail we come to a new obstacle due to run off. The right line is do-able with wheel base, so since Wally is absent for our entertainment, Teron stepped in!

And sits the Valtastrophe on it's belly - square on it's belly.

Clint showed up just in time to have to pull Teron forward.

Nope, didn't expect you to let it slide Val. It worked MUCH better once I put it in 4LO rather than 4HI.

Had a great time guys, thanks for calling Val. Another fun run with great people. Nice to meet you Shawn.

    The Wally Show

By now Mike and Wally have put Wally's rig back together and have caught back up with us.

Then we get to this obstacle that is right before the alcove. Again, another obstacle that we have watched Wally go over plenty of times with no problems.
    Pre - flop:

    Post-flop:

So we winch him back over - notice he broke the rock - that's the rock that flopped him under his front right.

Hey Wally - Can you find the problem with this pic? (hint - all 4 wheels are rubber side down).

For precautionary measures, Wally does attempt the obstacle under the alcove, which has turned nasty with spring run off. In order to avoid a second flop the guys hold a strap while he goes down - note I said in order to avoid the second flop.

He actually drives out from this point, and the rest of us choose to go around the rock.
    The very next obstacle:

    Clint to the rescue again!
During inspection of the YJ after it's on all 4's Wally discovers this in not one, but three places:

    No bueno!

Thanks for the show Wally. Sorry you put Blueberry on both sides, broke, and cracked your frame. Just when Josh and Jeremy are almost done with their rebuilds too!

Shawn had never been out 21 Road, so we let Wally turn around and the rest of the crew continued on. As the day had been, there was more carnage. Clint lost the strap on his gas tank going up a ledge.

Then on the way out Shawn had an issue with a rear spring.

But we all had a great day!!!

Thanks Steve for letting my mom ride shotgun! As always, she had a great time out on the trail.

Had a great time on Saturday. I cant believe how much 21 road has changed up towards the top. Have to run it again soon!

It was good to finally meet you all. Hopefully we can get Wallys jeep fixed and keep him off the mtn bike this summer.

    What a chucklehead!

Nice pics everybody! While I was waiting for my morning group (that didn't show), I saw Wally coming out on his parts run, didn't realize their was a group up the trail already. When we passed you guys coming out around 6 p.m., we were headed in for a eve./night run. Made it to the end of the trail by 8:15 and out to 16 road pavement by 9 pm. Had dinner, then went home. Just a heads up for anyone thinking of running 21 Rd. next weekend....on the 10th, the Red Rock 4 Wheelers are headed up for their monthly club run on 21 Rd. Last time they did it, there was 15-20 vehicles and it was an all day event. So if your gonna run it, get there early b4 the circus rolls in. Wally...too bad, so sad. Sounds like a typical 21 road trip for you, but the frame breakage...even you don't deserve that much carnage.

Val, that was a BLAST as usual, Shawn great to meet you Big thanks to Teron and Clint for winching me over each time Mike thanks for dragging me back into town to get another tierod...lifetime warranty baby Steve, thanks for heckling once again, it's too bad i couldn't hang around because after that performance, i believe i owed everyone there at LEAST one round of beers at the ale house Here's the only pics i snapped at the end of the day when i dumped it the second time.

Here's the Pass side crack, it's the worst as you can see it goes under the frame and up to the cross member

Here's the driver side rear which again goes all the way through to the cross member

And the driver side front which has started cracking all the way through as well

I'm going to hook up with clint in a few weeks and plate the entire outside of the frame rail with 3/16" steel so i can play this summer, then come winter it's either a new frame or a custom built one

I assume your ignorant comments are directed at Wally, but just in case, this reply applies equally to all of the rigs on this trip.

Huh??? It's fully street legal, licensed and insured, so what's the problem?

If you want to build a tube chassis integrated with your tub let me know the shop should be open by winter . We could probably complete it in a long weekend

cool thanks for the offer, I'll keep that in mind, I'm not really sure what I'm going to do yet for the winter, just tossing ideas around in my head till i find something that sticks

As for your comment Gunter I've LONG since learned to ignore ANYTHING and EVERYTHING that you spew out online. Everything is always the most extreme negative point of view, exaggerated so much, that i have to believe your parents abandoned you as a child, for there is no other rational reason a human being can get off so much on insulting other peoples ideas and hard work Or maybe it's as simple as you're just a D!CK

Wally, I have a very clean frame for you. Just come pick it up in Cedaredge. I was getting ready to start cleaning shop and that needs to go!
