Johnny Park/Bunce Road 030606

Six of us headed into Johnny Park this morning around 1045. The weather was perfect. Shady and cool was the ideal situation. We had three TJs, one Nissan pickup, one XJ, and one Rubicon. Everyone was doing well on the trail until we reached that 75% of the way through the trail when Jamie Desota decided he wanted to rest his driver's side torsion bar on a rock.
Needless to say, it bent the connection piece. He proceeded along decently until the very end, when the entire torsion bar fell off the truck. Lucky for him, he had some springs up front. Johnny Park was decent with not too much traffic considering. After toiling up around Parachute Hill, we headed towards Bunce Road.
Same situation at Bunce, but way more traffic. Anyhoot, here are some photos.

ill post up the link to the few pics i have in a bit..

ill be under the truck tomorrow fixing the torsion bar. found a site on how to fix it and lift it . i think i might try and get some lift out of it. when i get it fixed were gonna have to go try that trail again.. unless i conquer that trail it will give me nightmares. this time ill take the left line on that rock!

Johny Park nor Bunce School are hard trails, but they are the types of trails to do if you just want to get away for a while.
They are also good beginner type trails and as you said they are starting to get get more traiffic on them specially with the ATV's.
Did you guys make it to the sand pit on Bunce School?
There are also a lot of off shoot trails that are harder then the main road.
Sounds like you almost had a relaxing day in the mountains.

got the truck fixed.. not hard at all! took about 20 min to put the torsion bar back in!!

Glad to hear the truck is fixed Jamie. No Explorerguy, we never came across any sandpits. Bunce Road was extremely dusty though. That fine white dust was nasty.

Sorry I wasn't able to join up with you guys. I was busy keeping the wife happy by working on the sub floor at the house. This weekend was just a total wash for me when it came to wheeling. I'll be up near leadvill and buena vist next weekend if any of you guys happen to be heading up that way? Thanks for the pictures Jamie. Sorry I was unable to meet you.

its ok .. the truck is fixed and im waiting to go back out.. next weekend is pretty much shot unless money falls from the sky.. im thinkin about taking the torsion bars back out next weekend and turning it up a little more. i figure i can get a little more lift out of it.. cause where it was at stock ride seems to have sagged after 20+ years on the truck
