Fun at the Rock Crawl in the Springs

Just wanted to let everyone know I had a great time today at the Rock Crawl in the Springs, I forgot the sunscreen so I'll be hurting tomorrow.
Thanks to all the drivers that I talked to; they were really nice & welling to tell you about there rigs & about how the race went such as rules.
I thought I had more pictures of some of the flops but I guess I was having more fun watching then taking pictures. I know there are going to be some drivings & co-pilots that are going to be looking for the hot tubs tonight, I couldn't believe the one rig that flopped then got himself back on his wheels, then flopped again and again got back on his wheels just to flop again for the 3rd time. After that I think they just said we quit!!!

It was defenitely a good time. It was a total change of pace, especially the big air over the double jump. Good competition and no rules, what more could you ask for.

Huh, looks like RJ and Joe couldn't get their racer back togter as they have their rock crawler there. Bummer for them:

That is a big nitrous bottle.

It was a great event. Nobody was afraid of the skinny pedal.

Anybody hear final results? I heard that the Lovells were leading at lunch, but never heard anything after that.
I don't know what the world may need, but a V8 engine is a good start for me. I think I'll drive to find a place, to be surly.

The Lovells ended up winning the race. Nice to see a good turnout for the event. The courses out there were definitely a lot better than last years, and they did a good job of keeping the event moving by getting rolled or broken vehicles moved as quick as possible to get back to racing.

Huh, looks like RJ and Joe couldn't get their racer back togter as they have their rock crawler there. Bummer for them.

They were trying hard to get it back together, but you saw how that turned out. You should have come over for the race Terry. We're getting ready to head to Penrose this morning, we could have got out and wheeled a little together.

Most of the track was dirt, but there were a lot of holes that were filled in with rocks they had to go thru. The rocks didn't give these guys any trouble it was the steep up hills & down hills and then add trying to go as fast as they can. I lost track but there were probably a dozen vehicles that tipped, flipped, or did a end over end.

Brad, if you read this you need to clean out your email before I can send you the rest of the pictures I took.

Congrats to the locals Lovells, JT, and Weston for their finishes. I thought Shannon would win since he has what looks like a very hot car.

I guess the guy with the tank is Jason Berger:

Yeh, that rock racing is fun and all, but hard on equipment and I'm trying not to spend money right now. I'll probably show up to the race in Cortez.

I added a few more pictures.
For those that live in the Springs probably don't think it's that big of a deal but it was cool to see those big planes flying overhead.
I didn't know the Lovell won, but I sure liked the looks of there vehicle, I guess it's because it still looks something like a vehicle & it's a "FORD" kind of!!!!

Good talking to you Explorerguy - thanks for the photos posted.

We had a great time in the Springs. Super fans at the event - thanks for coming to watch and cheer for your favorite team.

Our driver should be out of the cast on his right arm by July 15 when the next event is scheduled in Cortez.

We wound up in 8th place due to a 2 minute penalty for taking the cone on the second course of the day for us. The left upper front link pulled out of the frame and the car had a hard time turning. Got it fixed, as documented by explorerguy, and ran the next 2 courses without mishap.

Thanks again to all the people that showed up to the event - judges, timers, vendors, competitors and especially the fans.

I was in line right behind you Brice, that jump/roll looked like a hard hit from behind. I thought about hittin it too, you kinda made my mind up for me though.

DCZ... Glad your link mount held up for ya. 8th place with one hand, good job.

I didn't get to see where I ended up, but for my first comp, 1 penalty and no broken parts.... it was a good day. I look forward to seeing you all in Cortez. Thanks to all for a great day. And congrats to the Lovell's, very impressive driving.

I am not Brice, I was one of the recovery vehicles. I was in a great spot to shoot the east course. I'll get some pics of you posted soon.

Besides what it obviously did to the cage, the things that hit did to the little things like the pass side engine mounts and such on the rig, showed that had to have been a rough ride.
Glad everyone was ok after that
Try the skinny pedal on the right.....Nancy!

Awsome job Brad & Roger, Wes, J.T., Shannon & Jason!
    - Wes - the black pannels look much better than the orange ones did.
I see the guys from CRAWL mag were out for the event (Brandon from Crawl is in one of Jocko's pics) ! Edit: And Brian from Wickedmag.com. Any other media coverage we should look forward to?
Thanks for the great pics Jocko!

I agree with you Val the black panels are better then all orange, I think the black panels will be on for Cedar City in two weeks. Once again the Weavers put on a spectacular event, very professional but still very fun. I can never stop smiling at these events.

Awesome driving from the Lovell Bros, Shannon, JT and Jason Berger. Those guys are hard to keep up with, especially with my low geared buggy. Thanks to all the fans for coming out and enduring the freak wind storm at the end.

3 Crawloradians in the top 5, that has to make you smile!

It was a blast! Except for the wind at the end, which I think you missed It was very close to $1000 plus another ~$2k - 2500 in parts.
