    Explorer4x4.com Moab Run

Got back early this afternoon from a very interesting trip. We had plenty of problems including a busted D44 axle u-joint, toasted rear u-joint/drive shaft, Atlas II drain plug knocked out of case, shock on a late model, tre on a late model, 2 vehicles with fuel issues, busted mirror, busted rear window, busted welds on a rear axle pearch and a busted tranny mount on my X.

Mike, it was a lot of fun wheeling with you this weekend, I can't believe the places you take that almost stock Explorer.
Here is my favorite picture of us, I'm waiting to see the video.

I saw you on your way out on Friday. We were headed east on 70 about 2:00 just inside Utah. Looks like you had a good time!

Hope you guys had as much fun out there as we did, we got into town at 3:00 and checked in and met Brian1 at 3:30 and did Gemini Bridges & Long Canyon just as a warm up & to let Patrick get used to driving "THEEEEE PURPLE" Explorer since we didn't take his Sami.
Saturday we did Behind the Rock & Sunday Hells Revenge, which were two trails we haven't done but plan on doing again sometime because they were a blast.
Patrick drove about half of each of those trails and did really well for being his first time behind the wheel in Moab.

Pictures sure don't show how steep some of the stuff is that you can drive over in Moab. I thought this was a pretty good rock for him to practice on but in the pictures it looks like a speed bump..

I had a great time too. I lead the stock vehicles both days on TOTW Saturday and Onion Creek/Thompson Canyon/LaSal Pass on sunday. Sunday was one of the most enjoyable trail runs I have ever been on in Moab. It was pretty easy but had some great scenery. We got less than a mile from the top of LaSal pass when snow blocked the trail. I got out to take a picture, started walking on the snow and sank about 3' into it. Luckily we had a small group and the 3 of us were able to turn around on the trail and head back down the shelf road. We also found a mapping mistake in the Wells book and that cost us a few hours of exploring the area. We ran into some nice people in an old right hand drive cruiser on one of the roads we explored that told us the road didnt go anywhere and that they had been on it for a few hours when we met them so we followed them back out.

All my pics are here: http://s18.photobucket.com/albums/b141/Brian4x4/Moab06/

Perry, I looked for you on my way out of Moab but I couldnt find the Purple Explorer. It was good to see you and the family again, tell your parents hi from us. Thanks for joining me Friday and Im glad Patrick got some seat time. Maybe next time he can have his sami out there
