I have one on the front of my F-150. It was installed last September. I've never had a locker before, so I can't compare it to other brands. It's worked for me and it's made a heck of a difference on the trail.
I'm looking for a 77 Ford F-250 8ft bed.

Its not often youll find someone talking bad about one. Auburns customer service is supposed to be above and beyond expectations....you break it in just about any manner and it sounds like they replace it no questions asked.
What i dont like about it is that when locked, its just a glorified limited slip and still allows slippage as its not a fully locked unit. Not sure how much of a problem that would be with smaller tires and wheelin in the sand/snow, etc, but if you were running 35s or bigger and do alot of rock crawling, i could see it not performing nearly as well as say an ARB or an OX. For the money, id pay just a little more and get a true selectable locker.Somewhere in Kenya, a village is missing their idiot

Jeff, I believe it's a limited slip when not locked. When it's locked it's the same as an ARB or OX.

Its always a limited slip....it just has a higher lockup rate when engaged.

Off-Road Adventures October 2004 review of this product states:
"When selected ?off?, the ECTED functions as a limited slip differential for street use, and when selected ?on?, it functions as a full locker/spool and ideal for off-roading."
Since I don't own one, I cannot attest to this as fact. Hopefully someone who does will chime in.

I don't have one but I've read in several other places that is only a limited slip at two different levels. It's never a full locker.

remins me again why i don't want a detroit locker? if its just because of snow and ice on paved roads that doesn't bother me, and i'll just go detroit, if its because i don't want a detroit for snow wheeling then i might look at selectable lockers again.... grrrr

yjlopes.. whattaya say J?
as the previous post says... are there any offroad or snow wheelin drawbacks to a detroit for a moderate wheelin' guy, or is it all just on road manners that kinda suck?? if its just onroad manners i'm not too worried

93 YJ, 2" SOA, 35/12.5/15, 4.56. Ford 8.8 rear, d44 front. Installed ected in rear and has worked flawlessly, in semi-severe rock situations and steep inclines. No problems with engaging or disengaging. Currently installing ected in front 44. I like it, and the wife can actually drive it on the street. Run Colorado trails.

I have the standard Alburn in the rear of my XJ and so far, it works good.
The ecteds just preload the cone clutches to make for a greater resistance.
These things will pull about 450 Ft Lbs of torque before slipping. What this
means is it will slip before it breaks an axle.
