That doesn't mean we are more successful in treating it.

In New York they really started to get aggressive in testing for covid 19 and found more than other states. As Andrew Cuomo said "you test more, you find more".
Places that find a lot of cases might be places that just do a lot of testing.

Some places might not do much testing. When someone dies then they test for the cause of death. These places seem to have a high ratio of deaths compared to the number of confirmed cases.

Whoa. That projection DRAMATICALLY changed for CO since I was looking at it last week. I'm glad it changed so much for the better, but holy CRAP it was SOOO wrong before.

That is great news. Worldometer shows that Colorado avoided exponential growth. Many factors involved, but I hope our early adoption of social distance and self quarantine is the reason. Otherwise it was a total waste.

I had to google to see what a john prine was. Apparently its an old man. Anyway, how do you know "it" got him and he didn't die of your basic every day version of the flu or because of any other number of reasons. They are blaming every death they can on the kung flu to try to make it as deadly as their wrong predictions claimed it was.

Even the head of the CDC came out yesterday stating the the estimated deaths from kung flu have been grossly over estimated. That is what you get with fear mongering media with an agenda.

Tell the whole story. The reason the estimated deaths are down per the head of the CDC is because of better than anticipated adoption of social distancing. We are all or mostly all participating in this (and have been for what...three weeks now or better?) in order to flatten the curve and its working.

I didn't leave any of the story out. I simply mentioned what he said and he didn't say anything about what you stated. Did it help? I'm sure it did but that doesn't change the fact that the numbers were artificially inflated by fear mongers.

I think you have "fact" mixed up with "opinion."

Data from four weeks ago is now four weeks old so looking back four weeks ago and pointing a finger stating "you're wrong" is a little bit BS IMO. If you have a problem with the data today and can prove the maths are wrong then feel free to show off your statistical chops and educate me.

Anyway for those interested here is the unfiltered story: https://www.nationalreview.com/news/...ng-compliance/

The whole thing including projected number of deaths is opinion.

Daily updated information is continuing to show there is more fear mongering than there is reality. One can say "distancing" is the difference but another can just as rightfully say it's the awareness driven "don't touch your damned face and wash your damned hands after touching shit out in public" that is making the real difference. The same damned practice used every flu season if one were as rightfully concerned about getting the flu. I'll add the "don't walk through someone sneeze/cough cloud either." to the previous, that's just nasty no matter the season!

I saw more face touching by mask wearers yesterday at the stores as people fooked with their stupid improperly worn masks than anyone not wearing one...hmmmm just as the surgeon general said could happen.

I tried finding the "Trump wasted x months" claim but don't find it. He instituted restricting travel (2/2) when there were only 8 deaths in the US (and all at the same facility), right after the w.h.o. claimed no known human-human transmission (1/14), Fauci stated COVID no threat to US (1/21), and pelosi telling people to shop and visit china town (2/24). If the US was in a shit storm over this while the rest of the world was safe then one might have a legitimate case for claiming Trump wasted time but Trump's early actions are being shown to have been correct in spite of the "racist" claims the majority of TDS sufferers were throwing at him.

Laying claim to Trump saying something positive during that time while he was acting is a red herring because for him to do otherwise would simply be to do what many want to do now...needlessly cry "doom and gloom" to scare people in an attempt to gain political ground during this crisis. We have enough mess on our hands without the fear mongering cries of the majority of media/politicians/TDS sufferers.

This filthy chinese virus is serious but doesn't justify the exaggerated fear mongering going on...as if that wasn't predictable

eta Dr. Fauci was even saying nothing to worry about here folk on 1/21. He was pretty fricken wrong for someone who should have known more than anyone else!

This is an OpEd but seems to me that Dr. Fauci's statements are being twisted to suit whatever political stripe people tend to lean toward. All the while Dr. Fauci himself has IMO remained fairly apolitical. This article specifically talks about the January 21st quote.

Don't care what someone "says that he said", I listened to him make the reply...out of his own mouth...not words written, not op ed, not rumor, etc...

And it doesn't matter that he changed his position, nothing wrong with changing ones view/opinion when additional information comes in. The whole point is the claim Trump wasted time resulting in an exacerbation of this outbreak in the US when he was actually one of the very first to act even when "experts" were claiming nothing to worry as long as typical CDC guidelines (at the time) to wash hands, etc were observed.

That he got it wrong at the beginning just shows he's human and needs to be remembered when 'experts', suggest "We can start to relax social distancing once there are no new cases, no deaths". That's f'n batshit irrational. There appears to be a knee jerk reaction to overstate now to make up for how wrong they were.

In today's briefing. (I could post this kinda shit coming from the briefing daily!)

Politically biased journalist: "Dr. Fauci, some commentators are spreading a conspiracy theory that the number of deaths being reported, without evidence, are being padded. Can you comment on that?"

Dr. Fauci: "There are always conspiracy theories during major health crisis. Now's not the time for these conspiracy theories about padding death numbers.".

LOL... copied from the www.cdc.gov web site just now and pasted below. Wonder if they added the murder-suicide of the couple that thought they had covid to those numbers. Why not? The thought of having covid drove them to it.

    Exactly.

Im not claiming its not a problem. Im just saying that just like everything else in the country that there are agendas to be filled. They admitted a week ago that "some" numbers of the death toll could be caused buy the flu or other issues with an individual.

Sure its serious, I wouldn't want to get it!!

The frustrating part of this is the deception in reporting. We watch the briefings every day and the majority of headlines are report falsely what was actually stated. They're headlines for people who get their news from social media from people who rephrase what was actually said or twist it in an effort to deduce, inaccurately, a completely different meaning.

I'm not so sure very many even remember why the hell the country was shut down in the first place!
