Silverton trail conditions 2019
Does anyone have any recent reports of the trails near Silverton? Here it is the end of June but we've had one hell of a winter with lots of snow and avalanches.
I hear you still can't get to Animas Forks Ghost town. Is that right? Road from Silverton still has an avalanche blocking the way? Can't get up Lower Engineer pass trail (also called Mineral Creek trail)
It sounds like all the tails are dead ends but I think my info might be out of date.
I plan on going up there this weekend if I can get anywhere.'79 CJ5, 304 V8, T18, Dana 20 with 3 to 1 TeraLow, 36" SuperSwamper SX, 4.88 gears

Not sure if you're on the Facebook or not but there's a Southwest OHV group that is updated on a regular basis with trail conditions.

A portion of the Black Bear Pass shelf road has collapsed and there is still a lot of snow up there.
I have a permit for our group to run Black Bear Pass in reverse on August 4th. Today I called the San Miguel County road department and they said it will be a month before Black Bear Pass is open. I was told it could be open before that but it's "very unlikely" that it will be open by August 4th.
