Yeah, the Colts really screwed that up... Should've done in on Friday, so the news didn't break during their Pre-Season game with Luck on the sidelines. It was pretty disappointing seeing fans boo him and taking off their Luck jerseys as he left the field. That should not have been the man's last experience going into the locker room.

I agree. Pretty disappointed in the fans reaction. I would have liked to see Luck get a ring...maybe he could have gone IR for half the season or even just sit this season out but if the man is in chronic pain like he described it is kind of tough to fault the dude on retiring. The game takes a hard toll.
    This is my boom stick.

Antonio Brown released by the Raiders. Fined $215,000+ which was enough to void his guaranteed money in the $30M contract.

One less thing to worry about for the Monday Night Football opener.

It's been a long time since I agreed with anything the Raiders did.

Don't forget at the time of the punch threat to his GM, he also called him a "cracker" in front of the team.

Judging by some of the stuff on ESPN, some folks think the Broncos should sign him...Elway isn't that dumb, Right? Right?

What does that have to do with anything? Only us crackers can be racist.

Shocked that the cheaters beat the cowgirls to him. Cheaters all the way.

The Pats signing AB was way to quick after the Raiders announced letting him go.

This had to be in the works before. Which makes me think that maybe that's why AB did what he did.

    This.

The Steelers didn't want AB to go to a local rival especially the Pats. AB from day one I think wanted on the Patriots squad and Belicheat is more than happy to give him a shot. AB even hired a social media PR firm to help accelerate the release from Oakland.

Going to be a long year for the Bronco hopefuls. They have actually improved a bunch, especially in terms of coaching. But they are still limited on player talent and especially player depth. They should make for some interesting games, but I am thinking they won't improve much record wise over the past two years. Should do better, but not by much.

Pretty full week 2 in the NFL ....

Broncos got hosed with the phantom penalty and split-second timeout...
    Rothlisberger done for the year
    Brees done for a while
    Eli might get benched soon
Cowboys O-coord is making Dak look phenomenal
    Mahomes still trending up

and I mentioned in last year's thread I'm interested to see what Lamar Jackson does in Baltimore... He's been fun to watch the past 2 games.

my new interest is this rookie Gardner Mishnew II with the Jags. He's 0-2, looks and dresses like a 70's porn star, his dad's name is not Gardner (guess they just added the II) but has played lights-out despite their 2 losses.

Minka Fitzpatrick to the Steelers, Elway should have tried to get him

I know everyone is all upset about the roughing the passer call on Chubby, but they called it the same when I thought the Bears got a raw deal on a roughing call earlier. I agree it was bad, but it was consistent. At this point they ought to just give the QB's flag football flags, clearly it's a penalty to tackle them.

^^^ I suspect all teams will experience this BS of no touchy touchy the QB ever. Should just change the name of the penalty to Intentional Tackling. It sucked when it was called on the Bears. Doubly sucked when it was called on the Broncos because it really did affect the outcome of the game.

Was talking to my dad about NFL memories growing up. I was obsessed with the NFL.

No internet, No streaming, No RedZone, No NFL Sunday Ticket, No NFL Network, No Sunday Night Football, No Thursday Night Football, No TV shows that constantly cover the sport.

We had a spiral notebook. We would watch the (very limited) pre-game show and write down the match-ups because we only had a little card with the Cowboys schedule. He would put an empty underline next to the matchups so we could fill them in with the scores when we would get them during the 3 football games on Sunday that were telecast on the 2 channels that carried the NFL. I scrambled when I saw a final score to update the spiral notebook. Each page was 1 week of results. We kept those notebooks as "archives."

I would make what we called "homemade Reese's" ... That was putting peanut butter on Little Keebler milk chocolate graham cookies and putting them on a plate. Sometimes dad would make his homemade potato chips and I'd probably eat 2 whole potatoes worth of raw slices with salt on them while he fried the others.

AND THEN ... MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL!! I couldn't wait. Thought about it all day at school... I was allowed to stay up past my bedtime to watch it. I was a kid who didn't like to be tired at school, so I stayed up through halftime (central time zone) .... that was because the pinnacle of the football weekend was the HALF-TIME HIGHLIGHTS .... Wished they still did that during these night games...

Saw Howard Cosell make a racially charged mistake, saw Joe Theisman break his leg .... Saw a bunch of other stuff .... Dad would always leave the final score on the kitchen table for me.

Good times. Good memories with my dad.

...and I may have gotten some bad info about his dad's name, but I still heard again that dad isn't called Gardner.

Either way, I enjoyed watching him thru 3 quarters in an otherwise un-enjoyable game.

I love watching the NFL draft and enjoy those surprises the occur like when the Giant picked some QB out of Duke named Daniel Jones at #6 that most had not really heard of. That kid did great yesterday.

Mahomes is really fun to watch and the Cheifs/Ravens game lived up to the hype.

I was lucky and got to watch all of his Texas Tech games.
I also got to watch Slinging Sammy Baugh in person of TCU and the Wastington DC Red Skins back in 1946.

I thought the donks were gonna screw up their perfect season there for a bit but they managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
