Full time rear view mirror camera ideas?

My rear view mirror is worthless. Between my foggy windows and tire carrier it does nothing. I'm considering the idea of a full time rear view mirror camera. I'd want something decent that works in daylight and doesn't blind me at night. Needs to be dependable and I have no idea what type of features to look for. My current fancy stock mirror tells me direction and temp. I wouldn't mind keeping that type of info in the display, but I don't know what's out there. I'm poking around and see all types of products - too many to make a decision. Has anyone done this? Good results? Bad results? Things I'm not considering?

    Thanks!

My wife gave me a wifi driven camera for my travel trailer. The camera is 'remote' and you view via your smartphone connected by wifi. I use a couple rubber bands to put my smartphone over the existing rear view mirror so it feels more natural. It works OK. Would work better w/ less distance which it sounds like your situation.

    Like this or similar.

Appreciate the idea, but I'm looking at more of a permanent solution - though there are a couple other items on that site that might fit the bill.

Your idea isn't bad for when I tow my camper with my truck though. Might have to check that out.

I am sure it can be wired to always be on.
Have you ever seen a man eat so much fish?

I actually want mine always on. I do some freeway and misc driving. Sure would be nice to be able to see back there.

Since I'm going that far, I'm considering the above monitor that would let me hook up some other cameras if I want to.
