    Differential Work

So I was in Ouray, CO two weeks ago and on the trip from Telluride to Ouray over Imogene Pass I started getting some driveline noise out of the TJ. Long story short the hit to my pinion shaft in Moab several years ago is catching up to me now and the pinion bearing sounds like a bag of marbles.

Anyone have some recommendation on who does good differential work?

I work buddy suggested RSG Offroad but he is a Toyota guy and it looks like they are more a Toyota shop. I have not called them yet but plan on doing so. If anyone has some other recommendations I am all ears. I think I am going to take the opportunity to replace the auto lockers with selectables at the same time. Currently thinking about staying with 4:56's and going to ARB's front and rear, axles are stock Jeep axles D30 front and D44 rear and they have treated me great since 2002 when I bought the thing off the show room floor so not looking to upgrade in that way. They have held up to auto lockers the past 10 years and the Jeep has gone everywhere I wanted to go and some places I probably should not have been as well

FYI Josh (crawlertech) is no longer accepting new work and is taking his much awaited retirement. Last I talked with him he is trying to be completely done and moved out by the end of the month.

That is great for Josh and unfortunate for people who need good work.

Busy shops are generally the best ones. Ones that have the best quality control have the owner doing critical things like gear work personally (28 years as a gear and axle specialist). (35 years as a ASE master tech)
At crawlertech in 14 years i've only had a few months (total) where I had a receptionist answering phones.
In other words, I order all the parts, answer phones, personally do all of the critical work myself and have never spent time worried if I have work next week or next month. I'm retiring and Yes Fully Aware that I did not return hundreds of phone calls over the years. I may have come off to some, that your money does not spend here, well? To be perfectly honest, if you really want me and not a generic shop to set your gears, you will take the time to call me back. I'm certain that Toby can appreciate that. (he ain't generic and does very good work too)..
I always do and did my best and some days were wasted (money and profit wise) away taking tech calls and pointing people towards the best directions on builds, shops more suited than me for a specific service and most of all building relationships (full well) knowing the caller may never spend a dime with me. If you didn't like me or Crawlertech, it never stopped me from making a living for the last 14 years.
I appreciate all the loyal customers and will miss doing this everyday. Thank you to all who placed trust in me.

    Josh
