Thread: NFL 2018 Thread

There are several good coaches out there. It's just a matter of finding one that wants to work for Elway.

    [With Kubiac as his OC.]

Or the organization could finally wise up and fire Elway too. Then finding a decent coach would not be so difficult. They royally screwed up when they didn't hire Kyle Shanahan two years back.

With Joe Ellis reportedly saying that Elway should be free to interview whomever without supervision, your scenario ain't happening.

Yup, which leads me to believe he isn't the guy who should be calling the shots. There might be something to this whole Ownership dispute...

    Right?
Elway wants Kubiak to be the offensive coordinator. I'm not sure if that's worse, but it's definitely not any better. Kubes killed Denver's offense and VJ was not the right guy to fix it (Kyle Shanahan was the better choice). I'd love to see Adam Gase come back here, the guy responsible for the record-setting offense before Kubes killed it, but Elway already said he's not interested. At least my seats should get a little better next year. 12k+ no shows for the Chargers game? That's some serious fan feedback.

I agree with everything above, except the moving seats. I like where we sit currently and won't be moving.

Gase failed in Miami because they gave him too much responsibility. Kinda like why Mike Shanahan failed here in the end and ultimately was fired in Washington too. Head coaches should not be GM's, and vise versa. I think Gase will become a great HC, under the right circumstances. But he and Elway have a mutual disliking of each other. So it won't happen here in Denver.

Kubes should not be in a coaching role here. I was excited to see the rumors flying about him and Atlanta. Get him outta Elway's grasp and a coaching role in Denver.

The next great coach is out there somewhere, maybe we get lucky

I don't have season tickets but have been on the waiting list for about 12 years. if 12,000 fans give up I might have a chance at a corner section in the top deck

GM is the problem. Coach can only do so much with the players on the roster. You cant make an offense work without an offensive line and right now need 5 NFL starters that Elway wont go get.I think the defense can be fixed with 1 good cornerback and better playcalling.

That’s easy, get a real defensive coordinator who can motivate and corral the defensive stars that should be playing smarter than they are. This will allow the offense to keep racking up points without having every bloody game end up close when they should be blowouts.

    Agreed.

That sounds a lot like another team I know about.

I heard that the official scoring was changed and the kick was actually blocked (very slightly) at the line of scrimmage.

.... the thread hasn't gone to page 2 on GCC .... which takes about 6 months these days....

.... I'll definitely stop posting anything shortly after the super bowl and I'm not feeling a longevity-health-thing right now so maybe I'll die before next season's thread

Until then, we have at least 2-3 more weeks....
