    Project NO UNDIES

    Dragged this home yesterday.

    1969 Jeepster Commando
V6, manual, full top and doors
The trash and spiders were included free of charge.

Dragged onto trailer with four flat and frozen tires ( no fun). Got some cheapies from les Schwab scrap pile to get it in the garage.

Debating getting it running as is our swapping my yj guys over, will device as cleaning ensues.

    Thoughts?

Plan for now is to see if motor turns and if I can breath some life into it. The original owner filled me in on some fun facts that he thought were important:

    1. Ran when parked (circa mid 90s)
    2. New brakes
    3. New clutch
    4. Tires were new when parked
    5. Seats registered twice while it sat

Now I know none of that means anything but it was fun to listen to him chat about it.

Gonna order a carb kit and clean under the hood, hit the cylinders with some mystery oil and try to turn by hand. See where that gets me. If its got any compression I will order some tune up bits and try to get it running. If not, will figure out my next steps from there.

So its looking very likely that I may sacrifice it to save all my YJ parts, which may be a shame to a purist. If anyone wants to save it from me before I hack it up you have a couple weeks before I make a firm decision.....

Maybe, the wife switched gears and is now freaking out about having two. So I either sell the YJ, sell this, or combine the two.

I sorta hate the idea of only using the tub from this and selling the rest, but 'happy wife' and all. Like I sad, there's time if someone wants to come get it, I'm only going to be cleaning and investigating for a few weeks still.

Plus the tub would get another lease in life and my yj would mostly get to stick around and with room for the kiddo now. Decisions decisions.....

Potentially.... Or an entire YJ. Check out the rigs/buggies for sale section. Also have top and doors for sale regardless of what happens

Long story but, have the hall doors soft uppers.
But he used side by side top and back panel.
If I can find surround I can seal off the cab a little better.

    Thx.

Continued cleaning and disassembly last night. The plan for now:

Mount commando tub to my YJ Crawler
Keep YJ hood and grille for now to minimize how much fitting needs to happen
Since the commando floors are toast it works nice as the 205 in my YJ is clocked flat and needed a lot of floor removal anyways to fit.
Will try to match firewall locations as close as I can
Get the body mounts as close as I can
Once its wired back up and running again, first stop is cage to tie it all together, this time with a rear seat for my kiddo

Rolling chassis will be for sale:
    225 v6, t86, dana20, close knuckle dana 25, dana 44 rear

    Lots of cleaning and dismantling.

The wife is a huge fan with top gone.

Broke or had to cut off almost every bolt. Got all the body mount bolts off, steering unhooked, and just need to get the last few bits then the body comes off.

Gonna be a fair bit of floor panel repair.

Once the tub swap is done hoping to take it to Addicted Offroad up north.

Really digging the roadsters look, it may never get the hardtop reinstalled.

Measuring between this one and my YJ, the tub to windshield is 3ish inches shorter, and I had initally thought I could end up with overall shorter vehicle.

However when I flat clocked my 205, the floor intrusion was massive, so I may mount this one 3" higher to improve floor layout. Once the cage is installed its a moot point. Floor plan layout was one of the things I regretted on my YJ. Will see how it looks as I move stuff over.

Got the scrambler set on the YJ frame. May push it back a bit to clear the firewall and lose some height at the same time.

Currently have 6" cribbing under the body mounts and the windshield is the same height as my yj was, 81". Hoping to lower at least 2-4 inches. But also dont want a fully hacked up drivers floor.

Also debating paying a shop to do the body mounts when they do the cage. But need to get some quotes.
