Went out to Hugo and got another front clip, hopefully I can turn 2 busted ones into one good one..

    More on that later.

Cut the van body off this weekend, still runs and drives!

    20180325_171943 by colorado_baja, on Flickr

Didn't go exactly as planned.. I got super lucky and managed to not smash the glass out of the back doors some how..

    IMG-0023 by colorado_baja, on Flickr

Normally I wouldn't care about the glass but I wanted to save the back half to use as a redneck storage container for the duration of this project. Gonna pop rivet some sheet metal scraps to the bulkhead to fill in the gaps and foam/caulk the crap out of the rest.

Finished my redneck storage unit and filled it full of stuff. Still need to do a couple things to it but its kept everything dry through rain and snow.

Pulled the van in and got rid of the rest of the body.

Hung the trans and T-case so I could see where the new trans x member needs to be. Trans x member and front drive shaft are going to clear the ABS pump so that's a bonus.

While I was cutting stuff today I torched the body mounts that are going to interfere with setting the cab on there.

Going to finish the mounts for the new trans x member tomorrow and get ready to mock up the cab.

Your storage idea has me wondering if you shouldn't put a hitch on the front of it and axle under it and sell it as an ATV trailer when you're done. Deep enough?

Everything looks like it falling into place nicely!

I am excited to see the body go on, even the test fit and everything to work on body mounts. Awesome project!

Funny you should mention that.. Ive been looking at $2-300 truck bed trailers on Craigslist off and on. If I set it on a trailer frame and had it tagged the city couldn't say anything to me if I wanted to keep it at my place in town to store junk.

It might be a little small for an ATV but you could definitely get a motorcycle or two in there on rails. I didn't really close in the front with the idea of it going down the road but the window I put in the front is 1/4" laminated safety glass I had left over. Even if it took a rock it wouldn't explode. I also have keys to the back door so it locks too.

Thanks, me too. Getting the body on so I can do cab mounts is what I'm pushing for right now.
When I get the drive train hung, body mocked up and it rolls freely on 4 wheels that will be a big milestone for me. Still going to be a lot to figure out and do but thats going to be awesome.

Been busy doing other summer stuff..

    IMG_1068 by colorado_baja, on Flickr

But I have managed to get some work in on this project..

    Made a trans x member.

    20180427_165817 by colorado_baja, on Flickr

    20180427_165828 by colorado_baja, on Flickr

Made some new frame mounts for it to sit on.

    20180719_110321 by colorado_baja, on Flickr

Had to come forward and down a bunch to accommodate the NV4500 and still have a reasonable rear angle on the drive line.

    20180719_110305 by colorado_baja, on Flickr

    Bolted up.

    20180719_140547 by colorado_baja, on Flickr

Got the driveline shortened and balanced here in town.

    20180719_140514 by colorado_baja, on Flickr

Finally got to set the cab on there to see how it looks.

    20180804_121552 by colorado_baja, on Flickr

    20180804_161440 by colorado_baja, on Flickr

Had to bob the front frame horns to slide it far enough forward to look right.

I think with the smaller 3800 fenders and a taller tire it will look sweet!
