    Smile 2000 Toyota 4Runner SR5 - well-modified

    Vehicle works great. I'm not utilizing it anymore, so I figure I'll let someone else have fun with it.

    Original owner selling well-built 2000 Toyota 4Runner SR5
    • 174,100 miles, automatic transmission, supercharged 3.4L V6
    • Millenium silver with HX package (rear locker, painted fenders, hood scoop)
    • Clean title, very little rust anywhere, no accidents
    • Always non-smoking driver/passengers
    • Great family vehicle for weekend getaways – plenty of cargo room
    • Great for headroom for tall people (owner is 6’3”) because it was ordered without a sunroof
    • Recently LOTS of maintenance has been performed on it to ensure the next owner can immediately enjoy it without nagging issues. All fluids were changed. All significant joints recently replaced and/or rebuilt and had an alignment. Drives great!
    • The current owner is an engineer who meticulously made sure modifications were done correctly. Some modifications are on their 3rd or 4th revision so you know this is what works well both on-road and off-road. Over $25K invested in modifications.

    • Recently passed Colorado Front Range emissions test – I’ll hand you the passing test results page so you can immediately register the vehicle.

    Supercharger with URD fuel injection kit, 3” lift, 33” Goodyear MTR tires, front ARB locker, rear electric locker, 4.88 gears, custom front and rear bumpers, custom skidplates, rocker sliders, Warn HS9500 winch with 3/8” Spydura plasma rope, custom rear lower control arms, front Tundra disk brake rotors/calipers, rear disk brakes with e-brake still functional at the wheels, full floater axle conversions in both front and rear WHILE RETAINING ABS, panhard correction kit, and many details designed for doing well off-road as well as getting me to work every day. Selectable lockers allow for great handling on snow packed and icy roads, as well as fully locked for driving through very deep snow.

    Here are details:

    --- Drivetrain ---
    • ARB air locker in front with fairly new ARB air pump – also can air up tires. Air hose included.
    • Factory stock rear e-locker with RUARI e-locker skid to protect the e-locker motor
    • 4.88 Yukon gears front / rear
    • Stock rear axle with Front Range Off-Road Fabrication full-floater conversion, which means it uses Toyota Supra disk brakes with e-brakes at the wheels, 4340 chromoly axle shafts, and full floater wheel bearings for durability and elimination of leaking axle seals that are so common with other 3rd gen 4Runners. Wheel speed sensors are mounted on the axle shafts to allow ABS to still be functional. No quirks with the speedometer.
    • Off-Road Solutions IFS full-floater conversion with Warn manual locking hubs (still IFS with functioning ABS; uses 2000 Tacoma CV axle shafts for manual hubs).
    • It would be possible to flat tow this 4Runner if you replace the rear drive flanges with manual hubs from FROR. That’s a rare feature among newer 4Runners.
    • Transmission valve body modification by Level10 for higher shift pressures to reduce heat, reduce wear, and improve longevity of transmission in combination with supercharger
    • Fairly new 33" (285/75R16) Goodyear MTR's with Kevlar
    • 16"x8" aluminum wheels (selected for strength). Extended thread wheel lugs.
    • Front diff lowered 1" to improve CV angles
    • Large external transmission fluid cooler
    • Still original Toyota muffler for a quiet interior

    --- Armor and Recovery ---
    • Denver Off-Road heavy duty aluminum front winch bumper. (Very strong due to 3/8” thick aluminum, yet lighter than 1/8” steel bumpers such as ARB).
    • Rockstomper steel rear bumper - initially with spare tire rack on hinge which was later removed due to issues with the hinge. Spare tire currently stored in rear cargo area.
    • All-Pro rock sliders with custom mounting method for superior strength with bolt-on wrap-around-the-frame brackets so these are very strong and yet are removable
    • Off-Road Solutions steel gas tank skidplate
    • Rear lower control arms - modified from my original SpiderTrax design to use rubber bushings on one end of 1/4" wall DOM tubing along with 7/8" rebuildable, greasable Summit Machine Jimmy joints on the other end with 5/8” bolt in stock frame mount. This provides the ultimate of strength, articulation, and maintainability.
    • Three sections of custom skidplates covering a total of 7 feet. These are 2024 aluminum, which is hard enough to avoid gouging. They are light enough to reasonably handle. The section under the transfer case is 3/8” thick so it won’t flex into it. Uses counter-sunk bolts.
    • Custom steel bar to protect base of radiator and provide a good mount for the skidplate.
    • All-Pro rear diff armor
    • Warn HS9500 winch with new Warn Spydura 3/8" winch rope and new hook with safety spring. Winch accessory bag is included with hand controller, gloves, shackles, and snatch block.
    • Spidertrax Hawse fairlead. Easily removable license plate mount in the winch fairlead.

    --- Suspension ---
    • Fox coil-over shocks with remote reservoirs in front.
    • Rear coil springs are LandCruiser springs, providing about 3.5 inches of rear lift.
    • Rear Bilstein 5150 series shocks with piggy back reservoir (good wheel travel and good ride)
    • Panhard correction kit to both raise the axle end and lower the body end so the bar is almost horizontal. This improves the ride and improves axle articulation.
    • Front upper control arms – Camburg 1" uniballs, which allow more wheel travel. Uniballs recently replaced.
    • Front swaybar disconnects were recently replaced with new WabFab disconnects.

    --- Performance ---
    • TRD supercharger (maintenance performed by Eaton at 110K miles) with TRD Boost Gauge
    • URD larger fuel injector kit with Split Second controller (user adjustable)
    • URD supercharger pulley (6% smaller than stock to simulate sea level). Dynamic belt tensioner.
    • Wide-band oxygen sensor/display to allow adjustment of Split Second fuel controller
    • Ceramic coated TRD headers with Remflex graphite seals and Stage 8 locking fasteners (no issues with leaks with this combination)
    • Fuel Atomizer 2000 is installed but used for collecting uncombusted vapors that pass through the PCV valve. There is untapped potential here if you want to use a laptop and take the time to change the Split Second fuel mapping while allowing fuel vapor to be injected – another person with a similar 3rd gen 4Runner claims a mpg improvement up to 20mpg

    --- Brakes ---
    • Front 2001 Tundra brake rotors/calipers (much thicker rotors, larger brake pads)
    • Toyota Supra disk brakes in rear included with FROR rear full floater axle conversion
    • Braided stainless steel brake lines (slightly longer for extended wheel travel in front and rear)
    • ABS is fully functional

    --- Misc Electrical ---
    • Extra large Diehard Platinum sealed battery
    • Two Rigid Industries LED off-road lights, individually switchable on/off
    • LED interior dome lights (brighter)
    • Rear tail light assemblies from a 2001 4Runner (much brighter)
    • 4-pin and 7-pin trailer connectors
    • CB antenna mounted on rear bumper. Cobra 75wx handheld CB radio included.

    Notable issues:
    • Right rear door has a scrape from a boulder on California’s Rubicon trail.
    • The wideband oxygen sensor readout isn’t permanently mounted but is placed out of the way under the passenger seat. The Split Second programming cable is also accessible there.
    • Split Second fuel injector tuning is currently tuned for altitudes above 4000 feet. I live at about 5200 feet. The original supercharger pulley is included if you want to switch back to it to go to altitudes lower than 4000 feet. Or if you go a lot lower, you might also need to retune the Split Second fuel mapping.
