I love the new office, but I'm exhausted from the whole process.
This shot is looking from my old office into what used to be 10 cubes and a row of offices:

Most likely will be putting my cat, Seamus, down today. He's been battling some sort of 'allergic' reaction in his head for the last couple of months. Three separate vets including a dermatologist/specialist. None of them really know what's going on. X-rays, two separate biopsies, anti-biotics, steroid shots, and some sort of specialized anti-histamine that takes 3-6 weeks to work. All failed except some temporary relief from the steroid shots. The last steroid shot about a month ago about took him out. The anti-histamine doesn't seem to be working. His head is so swollen that he's nearly blind due to his eyes being swollen shut. He's scratched the hell out of himself and had to wear the cone of shame until I decided he'd had enough of that. His breathing is extremely labored from the swelling.

I'm beside myself. I figured I had at least five more years with him as he's only 10 and been in near perfect health his whole life. This was so sudden and unexplained with no answers from any 'experts'. Our most experienced vet hasn't a clue what's wrong.

He was like my third child as my wife didn't want to get pregnant again and she found Seamus for me at the local Humane Society. We've been buddies since the day he came home. He was more like a dog than a cat. Never gave us any trouble except when he got out of the yard and went missing for two weeks. I made up fliers and went to every door in our neighborhood looking for him. I had just about given up when one of our neighbors called and had found him in her yard one night.

He slept on me the entire night the night before last purring his last purrs.

    I'm heartbroken.

Sorry to hear about your cat. I'm just a lurker here but I thought I would mention, a friend I work with had almost the same things happen with her cat and it ended up being sinus cancer. They said it was very rare and there wasn't anything they could do about it but I thought maybe it would be helpful to see if that was what was going on for you as well. Or maybe just knowing might be of some comfort. Good luck with him.

I appreciate that. I think to myself that it might be easier if I just knew. Even if it was "Jeff, we now know what's wrong. But it's going to be $20K to fix it." At least I could make an informed decision instead of wondering "if" there was something more I could have done. Another vet maybe? A different med? Wait longer for the current med to start working? It's the not knowing that really makes it hard. Or maybe I'm just focusing on that to displace my sadness and anger.

My friend mentioned it took a couple different vets to look at it before someone knew what it was. But if it were me I'd probably just mention it to my existing vet and maybe that would get them to maybe reach out to their other doctors or something. And of course, I could be completely wrong but your description sounds very familiar so I thought I would throw my 2 cents out there just in case.

Besides what would the internet be without some random guy poking his nose into someone else's business..... ;-) Good luck.

Jeff - You were fortunate to have a cat who liked you instead of just tolerating you. That's more than a lot of folks have. So sorry that Seamus is gone.
(Well, I'm takin' my time) I'm just movin' along
You'll forget about me after I've been gone

And that was a day to forget...60+ times up and down 12-14' ladders. Move the ladder...get up the ladder, replace damn light bulb, down the ladder, move the ladder to the next location and repeat.

Serious leg and shoulder day, I'm going to feel it tomorrow when I have 15+ more times on the same ladders.

Switching from 250w halogen bulbs to 17w LED. 29 of 36 complete.

Ian shouldn't have got all bloody unless he was mostly intact and viable. I have a pic of one that was hit at 75. Well, its really just a pic of a bunch of towels covering up parts on the interstate.
