    Friday Eve.

    Weather is unchanged.

    Read back.
Courage is knowing it might hurt, and doing it anyway.
    Stupidity is the same.
And that’s why life is hard.

My meat has been smoking for a little over 7 hours at 180°. It has great bark and i just pulled it off and put it in a pan to catch juices and cranked it to 300°. I will start probing my meat when internal temps get to 205°ish.

Bought in and uncovered for 15 minutes to let the bark reset then cover it back up for 30-45 minutes to rest then it will be squishy time.

A Puddydog is trying to sneak up on my fresh out of the smoker pork butt. He looked away when i took the picture well, because....ya know. He is completely innocent of all charges.

Damn near did for me. I watched Waze until it said I'd arrive about 20 minutes early, and as I left the driveway, it increased the estimate by 45 minutes and then jumped back another 15 as I came through Monument. Not good to be late my 10th day on a new job.

    Tuesday.

Weather is unchanged from yesterday...or last week...or last month.

We're facing a global shortage of loons.

Well, almost a year after Dad moved in, he just moved out. He left on Sunday to go live with my aunt (mother's sister) in Texas. My sister drove with him so she could spend a week with her son who lives there.

It was the sum of a few factors, but his mental state has made him a very different person and he became less happy and less appreciative of everything we were doing for him. I anticipate some issues arising in the near future living with my aunt. However, on a daily basis, it should be quiet there where my house is usually not. Hopefully that helps him and he can find happiness.

The transport company just loaded his '48 Ford Coupe ... possibly the worst purchase he's ever made. He's only driven it for pleasure 1 time. I tried to have him consider the condition of his back before buying a 3-on-the-tree car with no power steering or power brakes. It just sat in the driveway with a cover on it with the exception of it being in my detached garage when I helped him put disc brakes up front.

Most of the stuff I moved into my house, he left behind, so I get to deal with it all again. Everyone in the house seems slightly relieved with the negative energy disappearing, which was the opposite of when he moved in as we were all happy to have him.

It was just tough on Sunday morning hugging him on what may be the last time I ever see him.

Oh man, that sounds like onion layers of complicated. I am sure that you guys talked about finding some kind of senior community for him somewhere along the way? Or is that just not in the cards.

Also, in other news, I realized that I texted you back months ago and then never actually followed up. We should catch up in person sometime.

That could've been in the cards given how much he has in the bank from life insurance and the sale of his townhome .... combined with what he collects monthly via SS, his pension, and my mother's retirement pension is now paid to him via death benefit.

When he moved in, he was adamant that he wanted to make a monthly contribution to the household. We never got to that as my focus was just getting him through his very major back surgery. His thought process changed along the way and he developed a "miser" mentality. He monitors every nickel he has in the bank multiple times per day. Mom always handled the $ and paid the bills and he just didn't know anything about it.

I believe he is under the impression he will not need to contribute anything to live with my aunt. That was a major factor ... My house generates noise and his bedroom was under the boys' bedrooms. He didn't mind that early on, but I could tell that changed. His overall mental state and memory has been deteriorating.

I texted him the # for the transport driver that he hired earlier. He texted me a few minutes ago that he lost the number and was thinking the car would arrive any moment as he forgot they told him delivery would happen tomorrow. He didn't grasp that his trip was a 12 hour drive and expected the delivery driver to do it in 5.

On the other front, I'd be happy to connect up in person soon
