What kind of earl do y’all recommend in that older engine I got?
    ‘86 7.5L 460, 103k on the clock.

I was thinking rotella T6 5w40 and putting in a zinc additive.

    What do y’all think?

    I think you're pretty smart...since that's exactly what I'd do.

    Motorcraft filters, too.
Courage is knowing it might hurt, and doing it anyway.
    Stupidity is the same.
And that’s why life is hard.

I remember motorcraft filters being a big deal for the 6.0.

Is it the same for this?

I thought about that, but it gets cold up in them hills, and I wonder if the 15w is a little too heavy for cold morning starts.

I figured T6 probably had the same vitamins?

Yeah, the cold might not be great for 15w40. I didnt think about that.

Not a BIG Deal, necessarily, just a personal preference.

Ford filters for Ford vehicles - Toyota filters for Toyotas.

I run the T6 in my 6.0 and wouldn't hesitate to run it in an older gas burner. Pretty sure that's what I put in my '77 Dodge 360.

My newer Toyotas get 10w-30 instead of 0w-20 - I don't worry about fuel economy enough to sacrifice protection.

You must have one of those June to June desk calenders. I figured you would get a new 2022 calender that wasn't all screwed up like your last one.

Not sure what to do with that sentence, but I've read news articles about stuff in Florida and I do realize things are different there.

Nah. I researched it a bunch, and decided that since this wasn’t a race truck or an off-roader, just a truck for me to putt around in, I wanted to keep it close to OEM..

Good move. You might want to pick up a second ignition module (the silver box on the fender) for the glove box, just in case.

    Ian,

I'm doing a remodel for the GM of a Major (well-known) dealership chain here in Denver. He says to watch the used vehicle market over the next 45 days or so as it's shifting (softening), especially trucks. Just thought I'd mention in case you get a reasonable offer you are contemplating on yours.

That said, I did sell one today for my full ask of $12,900 -- '03 Avalanche w/125K miles I bought a couple of months ago as I was toying with the idea of selling mine and keeping that one. I listed it on New Year's Eve and expected a little more activity... The first guy to see it bought it and didn't negotiate, but I'm not sure what plan B would've looked like....

Just personal info I thought I'd share FWIW .....
