I come back, the “manager” says all these great things about the truck and how it’s worth $65k, blah blah blah…

“But I’m only authorized to give you $48k for it.”

I thanked them for wasting my time and fuel and said you could have just told me your max was that low before I drove home to get the fvcking truck.. they said they really wanted to see it..

I’ll not buy another vehicle from Stevinson Toyota West again.
    wow....

Refer to my previous comment about talking to someone that is actually in charge. Someone that is only approved to do something is pretty low on the totem pole. But i get that you wouldn't want to waste your time there ever again....

How have the bites from posting it online gone? any interested offers? Where does KBB land on the value of it for someone that would be getting financing? More curious in general than for me. When i bought my truck, the bank about peed themselves because i was buying it for 10k less than their expected value, so i know that is a part to consider.

WP posted that they got another 7 inches overnight, putting them almost up to where they normally are at this point in the year. Its crazy to think that a week ago it resembled a barren wasteland.

It’s hard to get a genuine value because of the mods…

I’m told that “stock” in its current condition is $57k-$59k. That was what Stevinson Toyota told me based off KBB, NADA, and JD Power.

But it’s got a few high end mods.
I totally recognize that those mods aren’t investments - and I’m not expecting to get my money back out of them, but I think $60k is not unreasonable.

    We’ll see what happens

I get that 100%, but knowing what KBB/NADA say directly instead of what the dealer says means a bunch too. Mods are always a write-off in my eyes

Since they are in the business of making money they won't give you over wholesale. Not sure how mods would affect their wholesale number but the base truck is wholesale +/- what affect the mods would have...which as you already know isn't likely to be much at all - especially at a dealership.

Yep. I’m under no misconceptions about the mods being write offs.

I got my fun out of them.

And maybe one day I’ll have “fvck you money” and have toys again.

Second 4 day weekend in a row starts tomorrow.

I could get used to this.

Im thinking that i may get hosed on my 3 day weekend as fridee has now become a "play it by ear" thing due to all these people suddenly deciding that they need to spend 50 or 100 thousand before the end of the year for a tax write off. Same crap happens every year...

I wish i made enough money that i had to spend that kind of money for a tax write off.

I don't live right at the base of the resort but we have really made it up this week. Dec 23 woke up to no snow, Dec 29 woke up to about 30" on the ground after it has all settled out.

Did you see that the Tahoe area has has almost 200" in the month of Dec?

You don't actually need to make very much money to take advantage of this tax loophole. If you have any tax liability at all your options are to give the money to the gubment or buy something shiny, I know which I would choose.

This is supposed to be "relaxed" week ... It became busy week.

It's cold now and I know the snews are hiding around the corner ... Guess I'll make non-busy week happen then, but it won't be "relaxed" since I might have to shovel the little white bastids when they show up ...

You can of course deduct taxes paid on almost any purchase but unless you have a farm or ranch or own some other type of business that you can claim said toys are required for that you can depreciate them out on, i dont know how it would benefit you. I am certainly not a tax person though so maybe there are other loopholes.

Well, I guess I’ll be turning my 1/4 ac lot into a BMX bike farm and jump track!

I’m a dumpster fire of a human being. About the only thing I’m good at is bikes.

It would be nice to not get hurt so much - but riding bikes is about the only way I find joy anymore.

It would be so cool to have massive dirt jumps in my yard!

Need a business so you can take the depreciation

Now you get it, maybe a skid steer to build the jumps.

Make $100K in the business, you have a tax liability of $30k. Spend $30K on shiny stuff and depreciate it 100% in the first year, that becomes a reinvestment in the business that is a $1 for $1 offset of your tax liability.

We did manage to be done with work shortly after 12 so thats good. It did sprinkle just enough to glue dust all over the black truck so it needs dusted badly now.

So, I mentioned my recently renewed obsession with motorcycles ... I mean, it makes perfect sense as it's 28 outside and snewing right now.

Beyond the big street legal dirtbike recently acquired, I did just strike a deal this week (and take delivery in a week or so) on an absolutely amazing 2011 Ducati 848 Evo that looks just like this one...
