I thought the later 6.0's with EGR and cooler replaced or deleted were good to go.

    76”-35”=41”... So you’re 3’5” tall.

eh those are some weak spots.... but they have other issues. definitely steer towards the later ones if you can, or get into a 6.4 if you can afford it.

if you plan on hotrodding it around, then just avoid the 6.0

  25. #40625
ah yeah I might be thinking of the 6.4

Not gonna hot rod it. The one I found it a 2006. All stock, never tuned, never hot rodded, already had the EGR valve, cooler, and oil cooler replaced by ford.

the 6.4 was the twin turbo, there was a big ecu reprogram that had to happen from the factory as some of them were blowing flames out the exhaust.

those are great with some work and tuning, and then they finally have the 6.7 dialed in for a serious engine.

i still like my dirtymax though

anything about the head studs? not that it was really an issue at that point.

get a mild tune, a good egt setup, intake and turbo back exhaust and you will be able to tow whatever you want and keep the engine running as cool as possible. but that really applies to just about any diesel to an extent

It still has head bolts. Ford did the replacement of oil cooler, egt cooler, and egt valve.

I'm gonna stay with no tune till the engine gets built (to include studs). bottom end of the 6.0 is strong, it's the other stuff that needs a little upgrading to handle more than 500hp

I hear ya on the better safe than sorry part, 500hp is more than you need for most things anyways, but if you are going to do that work, you might as well delete the egr at that point.

IF I decide to do any performance upgrades, then I’ll delete when I put the studs in.

Of course 500hp is well over anything I’ll ever need, but since when is having a big truck about need?!
