Alan, regardless of your decision to have surgery or not I highly recommend a round of PT. It will either get your to a point with the shoulder you can live with, or make your shoulder stronger going into the surgery effectively shortening your recovery time.

I dont think having the surgery or not is a question since it apparently is not a small tear, its just a matter of when i do it. As previously stated, i have been dealing with it for a few months already and the arm works fine and can still do "most" things just fine. The certain angles of lifting or moving it that hurt...hurt.
The surgeon is gonna have to convince me that waiting is gonna be a bad deal or convince me that i will be able to row a kayak and fish in 3 months for me to jump in and do it now.

Full tears on both sides for me, had surgery on one, chose not to on the other, both seem to work about equally. You always have a choice, but a surgeon will never tell you that.

How does one know if he has a rotator cuff issue or just arthritis/bone spurs built up? For the last two months or so, my right shoulder doesn't like me when I try to grab something behind me over my shoulder (like reaching behind the drivers seat, or going throught the motions of throwing a rock or a ball...
I'm assuming a trip to a doctor's office is probably in order to try and diagnose a little better???Jeff Mason

Happy sundee. Currently 64 looking for 70 so we arent gonna make many degrees today. I might even load up the kayak and go fishering but i have no idea if the fishies will be interested in biting right after the great blizzard of 2021.

I called him and we spoke for about an hour a couple of weeks ago .... he's doing OK ... Vision had actually been doing a little better, but not on the day we spoke ...
He's working to figure out his next steps to make a living ....
... He's a well-spoken, intelligent guy who's been through a lot and has a very interesting story....
I think he would do really well as a motivational speaker; just not sure how you monetize that....

It's not just Vern's story, it's his ability to overcome adversity ... that guy has done a ton of that.... he's a pretty awesome dude ....
