    Cool Hello, again

    Hello fellow wheelers!

I thought I'd re-introduce myself. I've been a member, albeit more of a tourist, for a long time.

I have not posted on this forum for a very long time because I was mostly hanging with the folks on TTORA and COTTORA up until 2017. I stayed with the Toyota folks because I thought it would be good incase I had questions about my rig. Got nothing against other brands of rigs, just prefer Yotas. Oh and I admit that I think that Jeeps are by far the most capable rigs off the showroom floor than most rigs out of the box.

For whatever reason folks on the COTTORA forum and Facebook page have moved on to other things and that club seems to have fizzled out. I too took a long sabbatical and have not wheeled with anyone for a long time.

So, I thought I'd try to get back into it, especially with summer coming up.

My rig is a 1988 Toyota Pickup. If my signature shows up you can follow the address to my build thread on TTORA, if you are curious as to what I have done.

I will admit my rig is more capable than my comfort level of navigating the trails and I still consider myself a newbee.

The most difficult trial I have done was Wheeler Lake and I managed to flop and nearly endo my rig.

For the most part I have stayed with trails like Johnny Park, Slaughterhouse Gultch, and T-33A.

Anyway, I thought I'd say "Hi" and see what trails are folks are going on and maybe I could tag along.

Welcome, I feel like people are going to maybe come back to actual forums someday. What was your screen name on COTTORA, I was a little active back at that point, but not by much.

I agree some forums are still very active
I would LOVE to see this one kick it up a notch.

What kind of Frankenyota did you have?

What are you rolling in now?

Seems to be norm the last several years with Forums. Not sure what the cause in the change is.

I know that Facebook was the cause of COTTORA's forum inactivity, but even the Facebook page hasn't seen much activity.

Guess old school wheelers are just moving on to other things.

Built an 80 peekup with a 5.3 engine, NV4500 tranny, narrowed high pinion 60 front and narrowed 70 rear but sold it shortly after finishing it when i was moving.

Now i just run a Yamaha YXZ1000r side by side mainly at sand dunes.

Remember 2006, Christmas Eve, I think? This place was like one big party. I just checked, and see that somehow there was an impossible surge non Halloween 2018, when I was mostly absent too. 3am? 4987 people? I'm guessing that was a DOS bot attack.

I've gone the same way as creepy. I sold my 4Runner and had a semi built XJ for a few years. Sold it and have a Honda Talon 1000R now. I still take it on 4WD trails, as well as other SxS trails. I stop by here every now and then to see if it has gotten any busier.

Thanks I'll try to keep that in mind. I'm hoping to hit the trails again. It will help justify keeping my rig. Been on the fence with it recently.

I've been on a long hiatus as well, but I miss this forum as it was 10+ years ago. My feeling is that facebook is more simple for folks to do their thing and our society as a whole, has gotten lazier. But we've lost a lot of the technical aspect that these forums offer. Something you could always search and reference and pick and choose your own path from there.

Thankfully, I am still doing the 4x4 thing! I am now living less than 3hrs from the Rubicon, so that is one bucketlist trail I'll get to tackle. Headed to a "Save the Rubicon" type event this weekend in fact!
