    Unser Racing Go Karts

We're heading out in a few minutes to the old Mountain States Toyota building at 36 & I-25. There is a new karting facility there. It's called Unser Racing. www.unserracing.com

The karts go 50mph. $25 per session. Will be there around 5:30 or so. Today is 2 fer Tuesday, so you get 2 races for the price of one.

Anyone with nothing better to do, come on out. Will report back on if it's good or not.

Oh my. Well, that certainly exceeded any expectation I had.

SUPER FUN!!!!! Those karts are fast as hell, and pull some g's.

Cost: 5 buck membership, 30 per race. Race is 12 green flag laps, one warmup, pretty much.

So on 2-1 day, it's about a buck a lap. totally worth it. Heck, it's worth it on a regular day.

Unser kart racing is absolutely scottycards approved.

Full on drifts, rubbin' is racin', and aggressive driving is something you will need to be comfortable with. Like REAL aggressive.

Colo TJ came, we had a ball.

This will definitely be a regular thing.

The parking lot afterwards is donut friendly, as well. I mean, you come out of there, and it's pretty much mandatory to turn off traction control, and go lay one down for the people walking in. Lol.

  6. #6

Very well organized and run. They definitely allow you to be pretty aggressive as well.

Thanks for the report on it. I go by it on my way to work every morning and was wondering how good it was. I'll try to come next time you guys go. I've done some indoor carting in Vegas with a bunch of guys from WERock and we had a riot. I'd like to go do something like that again.

Heard an ad for them on the radio this morning. Sounds like what they have at "The Track" near Centennial airport, and that place is a blast!

    The data!

    Best lap:
    Colo TJ: 32.510
    scottycards: 31.959
my bud from work, sparky: 31.571

Fastest lap of our two races, 10 racers in each heat: 30.281 Dude was frickin good.

    Second place was 31.004

Although sliding is super fun to scrub speed, it takes time to power back up. Keeping full throttle and using brakes, minimizing slide is fastest.

But hogging it into a 180 before the hairpins was too fun to resist, even if you are at nearly a dead stop once you make the turn.

    In Addition to^

Once you register all your info is logged into their system. You get a print out after each session and your "history" is included. Items such as how many sessions you've done, you're fastest lap, etc.

A buddy and I were talking about that last week as we drove by. I didn't know they were open yet. I am in for a meet-n-greet.

So I see the max weight is 275. Last time I did carts rider weight played a huge factor. are these powerful enough to haul a 200lbs guy around?

Weight is a huge disadvantage, but those karts will def haul around a 200 lb person.

    I weigh 175-180, for reference.

I'd blame the half second difference on my friend weighing less, but he flat out is a better driver.

Any elevation change or rumple strips in the corners?

Those two things were my favorite about "The Track" at centennial. Too bad they don't have timing on their rental carts...

I've also run the electric carts at "Speedraceway" and it was nice to have the timing but the track itself left something to be desired IMO.

I still want to do Bandimere and the track in Erie.

I'd be up for this. Did the F1 Race Factory in Phoenix last year and been wanting to go again. FWIW, I definitely think I would have beaten my boss if he didn't weight 50# less than me.

FYI, they have a kiosk @ Flatirons Mall selling gift certificates cheaper than @ the track itself. Might be a quick and easy way to save a few bucks @ the track. Lower level by the sky-divers.

No worries, it didn't happen tonight anyway. I didn't get done with my business dinner until almost 8, and scotty's bed time is 8:30.

I'll be over here a lot more in the next few months, we'll plan one night in advance.

31.097. Woo hoo. Closing in on 30.

OK, back home now. First race, buncha slow pokes out there. Only managed 31.290, and the rest of the pack was in the 33-44 second range.

It's fun to be super-overly aggressive. I think I passed 6 karts on the warm up lap (lol), and then just slammed the door on quite a few others.

Second race my guys from work showed up. It was Sales vs. Enginerds. We bitch-slapped the brainiacs hard, taking 1-2-3, leaving them to take 4-5-6-7th. My boy Sparky, whom I can never seem to quite catch, bested me by hanging up a 30.5xx.

Engineers got 35.726 and up. They did better their second race, however. Going into the turn after the straight (you're doing about 45, and you have a hairpin that you have to almost come to a stop to make), I'm right on Sparky, he lays it sideways due to a kart that spun, and I slammed him pretty hard, lol.

Damn, that place is ridiculously fun. 2fer Tuesday still in effect. Really fun. My likey the kart racing. I'm currently in the 96% bracket overall, ranking 151 out of 4,051 racers.

Some of you guys have to go, and post up times.

Pre-register on their site, saves you time.

Also, call before. they had a private party going when we went, and we had to kinda rush our races- wouldn't want you to get there and find out the place is booked.
