Except I don't see how she is going to make any money. Or she is charging a LOT for prints to make up for it.

Dug into it a little more, this is actually pretty smart on their part. http://www.legacyzoom.com/groupon/
By having the 3 sessions spread out over 2 years, they are increasing the odds of incomplete packages, further improving their margin.
They sold 332 of these, at $69 each. That's a $22,908 cash infusion, before Groupon takes their cut. And you know there will be at least a few sales after the fact, despite the high print prices...
Just got off the phone with the Groupon people.
1) They have a large number of photographers in the Denver pipeline, so it would be some time before you would get a chance (if you were in Denver at least);
2) Groupon takes 50% of the sales. So that $23k in the example dropped by 50%. Then you factor in taxes, etc. and wow...
Got another one today - http://www.groupon.com/deals/nicole-...ne-photography
$69 or a 2 hour session (on location), and cd of images suitable to 8x10.
At Groupon rates, she is actually getting paid $34.50 per session. So far today she has made $3,243. I wonder how many non-redemptions the last one had (or will have, I think people had a year or two to redeem).
