    Blogging again

I stopped blogging regularly on my site in February, when I started my new job. I posted sporadic entries through the spring and summer, but nothing on a regular schedule. And yet the traffic coming through to the site is still significant ( ~100 people/ day). For whatever reason, maybe it was Jeffro's review of the studio lights, I feel inclined to start up again. Posted an entry today, have one scheduled for tomorrow and one for Friday, then one for Monday. I don't plan to write an entry a day like I did before, but I might strive to at least post a pic a day or something at a minimum. To that end, if you have content you want to see, or want to be a guest writer, let me know.

And Tiff, if you are still trying to keep ODOP going, I'll resume my days on there too.

Again, not sure why the fancy struck me, maybe I am feeling more competent as a shooter than I did before. I know several of you are inspiring me with YOUR work. Maybe I am trying to maintain traffic while figuring out how to monetize the site, I honestly don't know...

But please visit http://chesterbullock.com and comment on a pic.

I keep mine going on Blogger and I think it works well. I have integrated the look so that it blends seemlessly with my business site as well thanks to help from SmugMug customization folks.

The next step for me will to be see how much I can customize each to look the same. Not sure what that final look needs to be yet, and honestly, that doesn't interest me the way it used to. Which is kinda sad, since this is a visual medium and consistency is important in marketing...

I still don't have a real logo yet. I'm saving up my money so I can get Armando to make one for me.

Updated my blogs look and feel quite a bit. Now I need to figure out how to make my smugmug site look at least similar without breaking anything.

Thanks. I actually went to a fairly basic theme in WordPress, and was able to come reasonably close in Smugmug. Close enough I am ok with it anyway.

Looks good Chester. I updated DeNic a while ago...www.denicphotogrpahy.com

It's all Wordpress. Not sure what troubles you are having Jeff, but WP is hands down the best blogging/cms out there right now. So customizable it's ridiculous.

If you need some help holla!

C if you want to post to ODOP knock yourself out...I need to fix it, but will do that ASAP if you want to post there.

I guess its more of a motivation thing than anything else...it works, its just not how i would like it...IE super lazy, drag and drop and submit.

Me and webpage design\development have NEVER gotten along well...

Tiff - I tossed 3 posts out there, starting next Monday. Trying to decide if I want to continue doing 2 a week there or just one.

Jeffro - you should write there too, maybe pickup Thursdays, then I only have to worry about Mondays?

The local college has some courses on website development...think it might be worth the investment to maybe take one this spring as i absolutely hate all things "webpage making"...i guess because its like speaking dutch to me or something.

Honestly, not sure how much value that would have. But that could be the jaded side of me, I am so tired of worrying about things like design. I just want to deal with content now.

    Again, this...

Wordpress makes it much easier to just worry about the content. And really if you use the wysiwyg editor it's almost drag and drop.

Question for those of you that do blog - have you thought about monetizing it by running google adwords? I have thought about it, but when I see photographger blogs that have run ads, a lot of competitor ads pop up. Mine seems more focused on other things though, so I have to wonder if the contextual search would yield different results on mine...

Tiff - I added content to ODOP through 12/31. Is anyone else going to write for it again, or should I just let that die?
