    Why You Should Charge More

Interesting arguments, but is it practical in our space (photogrpahy)?

The concept is a great theory but in today's economy, unless you were already an established, quality photographer 2 years ago, then your not going to be getting much, if any work if you charge high prices...unless your bringing something really extraordinary to the table which is rare.

I always get a kick out of "photographers" that try to charge pro prices when they are really nothing more than a hobbyist. Browse CL sometime and question some of these "pros" on pricing, ask to see their portfolio, ask them if their licensed and insured...I guarantee you will get some good laughs. Some think just because they have a nice portfolio and a DSLR that their "pro". What they dont realize is that going full time legitimate pro is expensive...not even including equipment which alone can cost tens of thousands of dollars. Studio space, unless your lucky enough to have it at home, aint cheap...neither is insurance, paying taxes, business licensing, advertising, etc. When it comes right down to it, alot of good photographers might make a bundle in their gross income but their net usually is kind of depressing after you factor in all the expenses.

Guess what im saying is, if your going to charge high, professional prices, carry legitimate credentials(insurance, a business license, proper equipment for the job, etc) and be prepared to give professional results.
