Well so far this riding season I have had 3 incidents of guys driving light trucks messing with me on my bike. I am seriously starting to think about ways to get them and that is not good. I hope to see them parked somewhere sometime. :pissed:

I use to keep a few old spark plugs handy for that.

Carbon fiber knuckled gloves plus side view mirror. Works every time for me. Gotta nail the passenger side though so you can gas it and go.

I curious, where are you at when they are messing with you and what are they doing? I ride a pretty contained area from home to work and back, pretty much in the canyon the whole way. Nobody really gets a chance to mess with me there but, I'm curious what people are doing and where.

I ride from I-76 to I-25 to 6th ave. to work and back home again and never had anyone intentionally mess with me.

I have a 23 mile commute over a moderately twisty pass, One of the incidents a guy in a diesel F250 sped up as I passed and then tailgated me when I caught up to other traffic til I could put several vehicles between me and him, another time a 80s Bronco kept going 3 ft over the median line to try and keep me from passing. Either that or he was drunk or retarded. The other time a Duramax diesel sped up to keep me from passing right before he turned onto a secondary road.

EVERYONE is out to get you when you're riding.
Play the "Who is going to kill me & how" game while riding & you'll spend much less time in the ER.

I have been doing this same commute on a bike for years but this is a first to have so many weird incidents. More fun & games I guess.

a full pop can makes a nice mess of a windshield too... just a suggestion if you got room in saddlebags or something.

Just played this wonderful game at lunch...I'm leaving distance in front of me on I-70 and see this cat in a Tahoe with his blinker on so I slow up a bit more to let him in...he sits and sits and sits and decides that the best time to change lanes is right as I get next to him :mad:he swerves over then waves out the window at me...WTF

I love ridin and have learned to be VERY defensive, and when I am in my truck I try to look out for other riders, yet at the same time I have more than a few times seen people on bikes acting like dumshiits, and give riders a bad name to the point where I wanted to knock them the hell off their bikes ie....two or more lanes or traffic creeping along and one frickin moron on a bike riding down the centers, and yep if I see em comin I scoot over and block em off!!! or riding down the shoulder to go around everyone else, haulin a$$, whippin in and out of everyone. I like rippin it too, but don't bich if someone acts like an ass back. I guess its a question of >>are you a vctim of incosiderate drivers or are you askin for a reaction.

If you were the dipshit that cut me off the other day splitting lanes then I was the A-hole trying to catch you to bitch you out
Ride defensive, ride smart. Dont give us all a bad name by riding like an ass, I have been a rider for 20+, think your a bad ass take it to the track.

Been riding for 30 years, all I can say is, if you are splitting lanes, then ya need to slow the fawk down, its not legal, and damned foolish. No sympathy from me, if your doing that, and get yourself hurt. this isnt Cali.

If you are having problems passing people on a bike (and since this is "canyon carvers" I assume a bike with ample power) then you are riding wrong. Basically, you should be able to blow by a truck at will and they won't even know it until you are at their window.
That said, I normally ride very near the speed limit and defensively. I used to ride very agressively, but I am too old now. The street is no place to play Ricky Racer. If you want to be Ricky Racer, go on the track. You will wreck. You will see what it is like to push hard. You won't have cars to make that sudden stop against.
Street riding is dangerous. Keep that in mind and you will feel much better much longer. Again, when I was young, I didn't listen to this advice. I am not sure how I lived through it.

I appreciate all you guys advice, I am looking out as we all do. Disclaimer: I don't split lanes but if it was legal I would, like when I was in London,England and could not get over how they do it there. :D

"think your a bad ass take it to the track"
this might have been covered in another thread, but are there even any tracks left open for bikes other than the Erie cart track?

They split lanes like crazy in CA. I was just out there and it is wild. I watch my mirrrors but I still got surprised by a CHP Motorcycle cop splitting lanes to pass me while I was going with the flow of traffic in the Fast lane. My Bike season is about done up here.:(

I've had people pull stuff like that when I pass in my car. Wherever they learned to drive the skipped the meaning of a dashed yellow and how to make a left turn at a traffic light!
