View Full Version : Slaughterhouse Gulch still burning fire pit

I don't know about you guys but I would like to be able to not only have access to these wonderful trails, but would like to be able to go back and enjoy the nature also. This weekend I ran Slaughterhouse (without bypassing ANYTHING) and was finishing up the loop when I came across a still burning fire unattended, not only that but whoever left it threw all their trash in the fire! As I was driving by the wind was picking up and it astonished me. How could anyone do this? I could only imagine if a forest service ranger saw this. Good chance that it would bring great attention to this completely different reason to close down yet another trail and a reasonably descent place to camp. Of course I stopped and dumped the last 6 gallons of water I had on it then shoveled a heap of dirt on it. Am I wrong for being extremely angry... I dont think so. Whats your thoughts? graemlins/pissed.gif graemlins/pissed.gif graemlins/pissed.gif graemlins/old_glory.gif

you didn't bypass anything at slaughterhouse  Was this fire at the mudpits or what? I know there is a bunch of people who frequent the mudpits as a party destination every weekend and leave shite but i havent seen much littering on the loop.

Ok maybe I didn't drive straight over some descent sized rocks that were on the way down to the back of the loop but that was clearance issues. It was actually right by the mud pits... is this a frequent thing? Because this was my first time running Slaughterhouse. I went with a few Tacoma turds, and they said there was a few cut down trees that weren't cut down before. What is going on here?

Just to say thanks slate for putting out the fire. I live near slaughterhouse and would hate to have a fire in the area. I dont think it is unreasonable to be irrate with someone who is being irresponsible, people need to tend to their fires.

I appreciate the praise. I would hate to have to watch any more places go up in flames due to irresponsibility! Too bad not EVERYONE feels the same way.

I think I speak for everybody on this board when I say We all feel it's a good deal that you put it out. The thing is people on the board here know better than to leave a pit burning unattended. It's high school punks that go out there and don't give a fawk that leave their trash and leave their fire pits unattended. How do I know this? Weeelll I was once a high school punk. ;)

I am not calling you guys out and I too was a high school punk. I was referring to those high school "punks!" or whoever did this. I apologize if anyone took my previous statement in the wrong way. I am sure everyone on this site would have done the same thing. heres to the punks and the thiefs graemlins/flipoff.gif

I am a high school punk, and i think that you're barking up the wrong tree...any "highschool punk" on this website doesn't have their heads so far up their asses as to leave a burning fire...good thing you put it out though

Thanks for putting it out, Slate. You have every right to be angry at whoever left their fire burning. It doesn't matter if they were high school punks or long-time-since-high-school punks or some new brand of idiots. They tried to burn down our home state by being stupid.

I've doused smoldering logs 8 feet long in abandoned pits over there before. And yes it is true that most of the guilty are the local high school in-breeds that go over there to party. Remember the fire they started last year behind the high school? They just flat out don't give a shyt.

I told him, he was full of $hite and we started to argue about stupid a$$ $hite and it eventually turned into a yelling match between me, few rigs, and him he then pulled his handgun and told us he was gonna start killing us if we didn't leave. so we left.

This is the second post I've read that's involved a gun of some sort. All I can say is that if I meet a gun brandishing weenie on the trail, he better use it. If you pull crap like that on me, you're in a world of hurt.
Am I a tough guy? No... Do I have anything to prove? No... You threaten my life, you'll wish you never had, and that's a promise.

thats not cool... im glad my buddy tim wasnt with you when that happend, he would have probably gone for my ar-15 that sleeps between the seat of my bronco. then we would have had a real problem. if this is a frequent thing up in that area i think tim wont be joining me... no need to explain to the cops why it happend and explain to my dad why my ar-15 was confiscated and tims in jail.
