Been out of the Ford HiPo engine game for a LONG time. Needing to find a 4 bolt 302/351W block, for project TBA. Anyone have any leads?? Not into the 4 bolt retro kits either, that shit seemes a bit pokey to me. Dont mind if the block is a stroker either a 331, 347 or a 392 Windsor.

I don't know where to find one, but it will likely be less $$ to go with the Cleveland motor if you really need a 4 bolt.
Going to run big power? I've seen quite a few 2 bolts that turn 7,000PRM and make over 500 horse and hold up just fine. They are common in the Mustang and Cobra kit worlds...
Let us in on the project you're working on!!!!!:D :D :D

Yep, although Cleveland motors are getting hard to find and expensive.

I've done a few of the 500 hp (flywheel/flexplate) 302's through the years, They never gave me any lower end issues, but I always had the thought of the bearing caps going POP! when I would wind the motor up to 7k.
Considering the Cobra option for a 4 bolt main since the stock 302 applications for those are a 4 bolt. Was hoping I could buy a short block setup that was 4 bolt.

Thats what my research in the past few weeks has been telling me. Definately more than I'm willing to pay for a 40 or so year old block. Plus if I was to run a C block I'd just go with some sort of Clevor (for semi modernization purposes) setup by the time it was done anywho.
Also, if it helps in the long run, will be carbed, and mated to a C4, looking to get close to 400 gross HP. Nothing hard core, just want to run in a super stock class and get a average 12.5-13 sec slip by the time im done.

Courtney, a lot of the EB guys are stroking early 302's and later 5.0's up to ~330 cubic inches and getting mondo HP and torque numbers out of them. Do a search over on classicbroncos.com for stroker info and you'll come up with a lot.

Thats what I'm thinkin with the 331 setup. I've never done that flavor though, I've done a eagle kit 347 about 8 years ago now in my old 72' EB, and its still holding up strong to DD/wheeling duty with 130k on it or so. The whole stroker deal dosent scare me. Just really wanted to be a exotic bastard and find a 4 bolt block.

400 hp would be fine out of a 302 or Windsor. They do make girldes to strengthen the bottom end. I'm running around 450 hp/ftlbs out of a stroked and blown 302/349.
Girdle though I wouldn't waste the money uinless I was shooting for 500 hp or more. http://www.fordracingparts.com/parts/part_details.asp?PartKeyField=2482

Hey Courtney, how's the C4 treatin' ya? DSS has stroker kit short and long blocks with the 4 bolt mains. Also, there is a new Boss block being made that is 4 bolt main

Update: Dropped the C4 off at Detroit Transmission in Arvada, she's about to be WORKED over to the EXTREME. The C4 is going to be my first foray into 1/4 mile racing with a auto, I've done M21's with the chevy and the Ford's have always been T5's.
Planning to use the 351W I acquired, anyone know more about the Alumnium GT40 heads. Was planning trickflow, but the bug on those was put in my ear today

From what I hear, the GT-40x is an awesome head. I am going to be running AFR185 heads on my 5.0. That's what all the 'Stang guys are telling me is the trick setup and the specs are awesome on them. Decided to go 347 stroker.
