"If we can't turn around the continuing trend there in terms of damaging the area, we're going to have to close down the area," Everyone needs to keep this in mind when they are up there!

Matt - I don't get the Daily-Camera during the week so can you post when the meetings are? You're right - we need a presence there.

The article was for the most part factually correct, but spun in a very negative way. Typical for the Daily Camera. It even went as far as to condone the damage done by the landowners, calling it "Eco-Terrorism" as a way to take control of the situation, something the NFS has not done. Of course what is missing is a few small facts such as there is limited resources to police the area, there is only one law enforcement officer to patrol the whole national forest, and the fact the $250k grant being used to restore the area does contain a provision for more NFS employees for patrols. Something is being done, but the Daily Camera ignores that information.

If "Eco-Terrrorism" is acceptable as a means to keep people out of the area, where does it end? Is arson acceptable as a means of retaliation? Other "eco-terrorists" have used this method.

Right you are!

I see what your saying. Burn all houses in the mountains to protect them from urban sprawl.

Just like the eco-nazis that burn a SUV because of the emmisions it would have emmited in it's lifetime.

Too bad the burning SUR is dumping more pollution in the air then it would in it's operation lifetime and the manufacturer is more than happy to make a new one to replace it.

So net effect;

1. More pollutants emmited
2. More natural resources used building new SUV
