I have started an association called, Colorado Off-Road Clean Up Association (COCUA). I hope that I can get people to get involved and help us clean up trails. If the trails are clean, then the Sierra Club have one less thing to complain to the FOrest Service about. Please, help. Or if you can't right now, let us know which trails need to be cleaned up. Here is the web site.

Certainly a great idea. I clicked on the link, but looks like there's only one thing scheduled, and it happened today.
I think you should schedule more events and always post them here even if you put them on your site. I'd be happy to help, more so if any of the scheduled events happened closer to me, maybe Moab?

Thanks for the advice, I appreciate it. We will be covering states around Colorado also. We will be making trips to Moab, South Dakota, Northern Arizona. But the bulk of our trips will be in the Front Range and Summit county areas of Colorado. I will be putting more trips on the calender soon. I have just been trying to work out the logistics, and there are many snow storms coming. I think that we might just have get togethers when there is too much snow out there. Or we can find trails that don't have snow problems. If anyone has ideas for me on trails and trips you will be taking let me know. Also, even if you aren't part of the club and you are out wheeling, just pick a piece of trash up. Even if it is one piece, it will make a difference when the next rig comes through.

You will probablly like to use 5 gallon buckets for trash instead of garbage bags. When we did the last LH cleanup those things were the bomb!!!

We packed out 3 plastic grocery sacks full of trash from Lockhart Basin this weekend. Honestly, I was a bit disappointed in my "fellow" wheelers - many of the cans we packed out had clearly been there for years as they were rusting through.

Hey skierbri, good idea.
Your website is so Not Netscape friendly, it's not even funny. graemlins/thefinger.gif
Schedule something on the weekends so average everyday working stiffs like me can help out. graemlins/thefinger.gif graemlins/thefinger.gif

This is great. I love trail cleanups. The only problem I see is what to do with the trash once its picked up. Lots of trash found on trails is stuff that's hard to dispose of like leaky batteries and old tires. Here in El Paso County they have free hazardous waste drop off days. If the cleanups are co-ordinated with those days it would be a lot easier and cheaper to dispose of these materials properly.

Wow, great input by everyone. I know that the site isn't good on Netscape. I haven't really had time to fix that yet. Will do it very soon. As for the odd things that you find out there, auto parts stores will take old batteries. But, it is a good idea to figure out a way to get the runs on "free drop-off days." If any of you have any more suggestions I am more than willing to listen. Thanks again.
Brian
BTW: Thanks for getting those bags of trash, honney! graemlins/thumbsup.gif

I just updated the code for the website. Could I get someone with Netscape to test it out for me? I would really appreciate it. Also, my events calender service isn't updating, so send me an email if you want to help and I will let you know the events. I will post them here too, once I get them squared away.

I got a file save as dialog box to save the index.
I don't know code very well, but you have this.
"script
location.replace("http://www.cocua.org/index")
/script"
I Had to remove the start <> and stop tags to post.

To avoid that, I made it without the .html. I do know that the newer netscapes will work, it's the older ones that don't. But then again, Netscape is a waste of space in my opinion. But, some people like it. Brian
