As of this morning, most of the Pike and San Isabel forests are closed to public use. The Lake George fire was caused by humans.

I KNOW that our community is not responsible for these events, and I know that most people don't know me from Adam, and I have no power over anyone else; but I would plead with anyone who is thinking of breaking the National Forest ban to not do it.

If nothing else, we (our community) is a favorite target for blame, and I would like to not give anyone a reason.

The ban includes El Paso, Park, Jefferson and Douglas counties.

Be safe out there...

I don't see myself having a fire anywhere this summer. Its too dry all over the state to risk it, I wish others would think about it a bit first.

I was up wheeling Ute Creek on Sun, and I was looking at the surrounding forest, and it was all dry. I thought if someone even thought of a fire it would go up. It is way to dangerous to even think of a fire. Maybe this will help graemlins/spit.gif

Just heard this on the radio this morning. The forest service representative stated "unfortunately campers and hikers just can't be trusted". This was alluding to the Hayman fire which was started by an illegal campfire.

Don't forget that the last fire up in the Bailey/Pine area was started by kids smoking. Keep your butts in a proper place and for God's sake, stop tossing them out the window. I have seen plenty of wheelers toss their butts on the groud while wheeling too. You have an ash tray, use it...

AMEN SNOTTY....

When smoke smell from a forest fire fills your own house....it hits home hard.

Pass the word and police others....NO OPEN FIRES--ANYWHERE, ANYTIME!

Good advice from everyone!

I was driving down Hwy 105, and it was pretty shocking. This is going to be a long summer so everyone do their part to help out and be safe.
