I Need a good single player game

So the last game I really played was Half-Life 2 which was FREAKING AWESOME. I'm looking for a new game to play now. I enjoy single player games for the good storylines and all. I really liked doom 3 because of its dark story and gameplay. I loved half-life 2 for its environmental interaction.

Recommendations?

And for the record, HL2 came out in late 2004, Episode One about this time last year and Episode Two is scheduled to be released sometime this fall. I've never played the Episode One expansion, but I hear it's well done and unfortunately rather short.

Sorry about that. The mind was thinking "two" but the fingers typed "one".

It isn't an FPS but Company of Heroes is sick. Its about a year old but the graphics are awesome and the troops cuss worse then I do.
