Keep your eyes open for comment meetings about the latest White River National Forest plan. It seems our FS "friends" intend to go ahead with "closed unless posted open" roads. The forest service can't sign the roads now, what makes them think they will sign roads in the future? What of the environmental nuts taking down open signs. If you don't know the forest area, you would think the road was closed that way.
Fight for your rights! Oppose the closed unless posted open provision at least. It would cost the forest service less in the long run to post closed roads. I haven't seen the rest of the travel plan yet, but this one provision alone is very troubling!

Don't have a map handy (too lazy to go out to the parking garage to get it...). What trails are potentially affected?

This is important folks! Let's fight this. According to the local paper they're proposing 82,000 new acres of Wilderness. Check their site here for contact info:

Looking at the picture of the FS lady speaking, the signs behind her say Sopris, Rifle, Blanco, Dillon, Eagle and others I can't make out. Seems there's good trails in these areas....?
Good trails or not, contact the White River FS at the link above and tell them to shove it! Everytime we turn around there's more Wilderness proposed.

Sent a letter via email voicing my opposition.

Posting open trails is a bad idea and one that will prompt a response from me. They already have a rouge member of the FS that has been removing signs because of his precieved interpretation of the law. I hope he is fined heavy and loses his job. It has already been proven that vigilate justice of any type does not work. This proposal will do nothing but open the door for more similar actions of these vigilante eco-extremists.

sorry that upsets you alls delicate nature, but what EVER precautions that have to be taken to keep my native land/trails from burning up this year (dryest in 60 years) i stand behind 100%. i love wheelin as much as the next guy but if we cant keep idiots from starting fires than these dry areas should stay closed unit more moisture arrives. if anyone isnt smart enough to understand this move to ohio!

Ummm... topless, I don't think you understand what this thread is about. It has nothing to do with closures due to fire.

Eric's right. Sorry topless, you're cunfuzed. Go back and read all the above again, pretending that moisture levels are normal and the fires are not an issue; this is not something being proposed because of the dry season, this is being proposed forEVER.
