I am exploring my new suspension idea here......what are your thoughts on running Fox Shox 2.5 series on all four corners on my 1997 TJ. This would be replacing all Coils and existing shocks. I would buy all 14" or16" travel units and build hoops to accomodate Their length. They would be kept to the outside of the frame and as far to the outer ends of the axles as possible and cut up into the tub and hood if needed. My thinking is Ithat if anything weird happened I would only have to carry (1) spare Air shock since they would be all the same size and they are light weight. I would still run a track bar on the front and mount a rear track on the very rear of the jeep. SO.... tell me your thoughts. am I on crack?

I trailor it most everywhere but it spends maybe 1500 miles a year on the road. I could install sway bars with discos on the rear to help with body roll to work with the front disco sway bar.

The only problem I see is that they do not have a great return to center so the little street driving you woud do would suck. Otherwise it should be great, lots of guys have done it. Do you have full with axles? If not you will need to bob your frame in the rear to accomodate the body. BTF has an awesome kit for that. If you have full width poly performance has pre made hoops.

4" wider that stock so I will have a little room. If not, thanks for the direction BTF for the Fram Alterations. Return to Center? I guess I notice that when my buggy is done at the end of the day the 2.0 series are setting on the bump stops, sagging. But usually not so much prior to start. Your are saying that when I take a turn, it will return but not fully and have a lean until turned the other direction. So maybe a set of Coil overs on the Front and these on the back would be a better Idea??

I think you should just do a swaybar disc. front and rear. Zuffa runs fox shocks all 4 corners on his Lj. Rides like a cadi.. Im not sure what swaybars they are but they work great...

u dont need 2.5's prolly, 2's will suffice unless ur jumping. u'll want swaybars f/r for the above mentioned reasons. might be hard to get 14's or 16's in there without frame mods and still be right. just my $0.02

I agree and disagree. 2's will likely work, but the 2.5's will give you a much smoother ride. There is a very noticeable difference between the 2.0's and 2.5's. I would recommend calling Todd at Fox, he can walk you through the perfect set-up for your application (if you can get ahold of him). He walked us through our recent redesign for the RIDE racer. Or talk with Matt @ Rock Ware or Nick/Shannon @ Campbell Ent. Both of their shops almost always use Fox.
