So I blow some sort of oil gasket on 225 on the way to work, dodge multiple cars and get over to the side of the highway...fun.

So I sit, waiting for my buddy to show up with a trailer and 5 people stop to ask if I need help...all of them on Harleys, except the one guy who was in his car, just off duty cop, wearing his Harley jacket.

All my fellow sportbike riders just zipped by and looked at me

The guys that stopped were all very cool and I am very thankful to know that if/when I break down, there are folks who will stop and help.

Guess this is why most of the folks I ride with ride Harleys.

Something about those Harley folks. The only bike riders to have ever stopped for me as well. I was with a group of us on our Harleys who pulled over for a crotch rocket guy who got some bees down the back of his shirt. His own group didn't even stop for him. Good thing he wasn't allergic.

My guys I ride with, all very good about keeping together and helping out, but I was pretty ticked about the sporties who just rode past and looked...could have been the cop babysitting me, but that didn;t stop the Harley guys from stopping.

Meh...time to find the problem and fix it so I can get back on the road...only rode two days, this was day three and the long trip to work...:(

Good luck getting it fixed. I wish I knew more about mechanics.

My day has been hellacious to say the least...the bike should be the easiest of the problems to fix. I think I just did a horrible job on the gasket for the clutch/oil cover and it's leaking liek a sieve when the oil gets warmed up and thins out a bit...I hope.

Too tired to putz with it tonight, maybe tomorrow...may just trailer it to the shop to get the new tires so at least it's done!!!

Harley riders are a different type of person-self sufficient and know how to turn a wrench. They could possibly actually do a repair on the side of the road. Most sportbike riders are young kids who don't know the first thing about repairing motorcycles. They'd probably be embarrassed to stop. Just a theory-I could be way off.:)

look at the age groups, theres the first thing, Then, those of us that ride HDs know it could be us sitting there on the side of the road, maybe for lack of one wrench, ya never know when you might have just the thing to help a fellow biker out of a jam. Ive stopped for all types of bikes, and riders over the years, helped many, scared a few, lol. Hey just cause Im a hairy fat old ugly biker, does not mean I am there to do you harm, Lmao....:D
