I am a friggin' addict. I just can't stay away. I just booked my trip to beautiful Wendover, UT for the Bonneville 100 Open Road Race on June 8-10.

No race car, just going out there to see friends, inhale race fuel, and watch people drive extremely fast through the Nevada desert.

Many would think this trip is boring. Wendover sucks, it's the middle of nowhere, and the race is only a couple of hours. One car going by at a time. BUT.....the car show is killer, the people are like family, and there's something about seeing a car drive 200 on a public highway that just does it for me.

Now to find someone who needs a navigator...........:D

That didn't take long. Navigator spot in the 160MPH average class. Race prepared 928.
That's right. A Porsche with a motor in the front, a V-8 no less, and it has coolant in it.

Now I'm stoked.

IDIOT I am! The dude asked me to navi for him- but NOT at the B100. I read his email incorrectly. RATS! I'm not going to the other race, so now I'm back on the sidelines.................for the moment.

Sounds like that could be a lot of fun to go out to. I'd think about going to watch if I wasn't going to be on the road working for the next month or so :(

It was an excellent event. I got there late on Friday, and was out on the course at 6AM on Saturday. I was running one of the radar speed traps, to ensure that no cars were exceeding their tech speed. Tech speed is the maximum speed you can run, based on your safety equipment and target speed class. It ranges from 124MPH up to Unlimited.

We had 3 cars run in excess of 200MPH, including my favorite, the Corvair!:D

So down the course I went at 6AM. This road is closed by NDOT (so don't flame me, it's perfectly legal!!!), and I figured what the heck, might as well see what the POS rental car (Pontiac Grand Prix) would do. I held this speed through every turn- flat on the floor. My top speed was 109, and I think I managed to average about 107.8 from a standing start down to the place I was on course, about 30 miles down.

All she had:

My friend has a new 2006 Z06. Here is him coming at me, just running along at a leisurely 157MPH:

Some of the faster guys- the speed displayed on the top of the gun is his fastest speed by me. As the angle between me and the target increases (as he goes by), the radar reading will decrease due to cosine error, that's why the 165 displayed speed for current speed:
