I was reading about someone who posts images to flickr, and they were subsequently stolen by a UK firm and sold for big $$. She had thought that the images she posted were of low enough resolution, that she was safe. Then she started learning about "upsizing" or "resampling" programs and how well they work.

Which leads me to my question: has anyone used this type of software? I have a couple of images I took with my old Olympus 3.2MP camera that I would like to be able to make larger prints of.

Thank you.

"Upsizing" an image is known as interpolation. I used one program in school, can't remember the name, but it was amazing what you could do. You can also use photoshop and adjust the image size. If you go this route, only upsize 10% at a time in the pixel dimensions, and set it to bicubic smoother (NOT sharper when "upsizing") with scale styles, constrain proportions, and resample image all checked. This is what I usually do. There is a limit as to how much you can interpolate an image before you really start to loose quality, so just keep that in mind.
