I gotta do an event for my club and since we had a rider go down a few months back (he just woke up out of the coma last week) I was thinking of doing a benefit poker run. Not even sure where to start though.
Anyone done this and can lend some advice?

Figure out where you would like the poker run to go. Go talk to the bars (or whatever places you would like to stop), and make sure it is ok with them to do so at their location. Plan the entire route out, on a map, and make sure you have someone in a car that can take a quicker route to each location that way everything can be prepared at the site before the bikes show up. Designate people to do each portion of what needs to be done. ie, coordinating with the management of each bar, getting maps drawn up for every one, being the card guy at each bar, trip leader to take the lead, and a truck and trailer and the end of the rally is almost always helpful. I say that as I have never been on a poker run that didnt lose at least one bike to mechanical failure.
Thats all I can think of right now. Shoot me a PM if you wanna know anything specific.

I;m goign to need as much help/advice as I can get. Me and one other prospect are going to plan this...but he is very young so him talking to bars is out of the question.
It's either Poker Run or Scavenger Hunt.

Poker runs are a lot of fun but require a lot of coordination. Like I said just figure out what locations you wanna go to and talk to the management there, make sure they dont have a problem with it and go from there.

I did a suitcase run one time with Stoned Sober in AZ. We ran to coffee shops and resteraunts all around Tucson.
You go down to the Salvation army and get a big box full of wild cloths. Women's undies is a must. put a bunch of cloths in a box at each stop. When you get to the stop you pull out an article of clothing and you have to wear it for the duration of the ride.
A fashion show at the end decides the winner.
You have not lived until you see a bunch of big burley bikers with women's undies, and shower caps on parading around a resteraunt.

OMG it was a flat out blast. The winner was a guy named "bear". His wardrobe included a white teddy of some sort, and a shower cap... Watching him prance around during the fashion show made me laugh until I almost cried.

BTW: Stoned Sober is a group of recovering (Insert addiction here). They don't drink or do anything so they are a hoot to ride with, and they are some fantastic riders.
