Do believe the wifeys comp has a catastrophic HD failure. Start boot and reaches for the HD for boot sequence.. BLAM! Primary master hard disk S.M.A.R.T: Bad failure death murder kill...blah blah blah. Any way to see if I can get this to boot passed the SMART protection? Otherwise her machine is 5 years old and time to get a new one I guess. Damn when we were just starting to get a head a bit.

If it otherwise has the capabilities you need, just pick up a new disk and rebuild it.

You can disable the SMART detection in the BIOS.
