I start my first Digital Camera 1 class Monday evening hosted by the Denver Dark Room on Tejon. Please wish me luck. I'm very excited to be learning how to use my Canon Rebel Xti. It won't be long before I FINALLY understand the lingo all the shutterbugs speak!
I'll let you know how everything went. If you've taken any other classes, please post about them in this thread in case others are interested in doing the same.

Jesus...what have I gotten myself into.
In the first three hours of class we covered IOS, aperture and shutter speed, plus a ton of other stuff I'm still foggy on.
I think I'm definitely going to have to learn by doing.
We already have four homework assignments due by next week!
Oh well, here's my trial by fire!

once you get how everything works together you'll be fine, i promise!!! you're going to love it after that!! i took a cclass in high school where it was sort of the some way, and we had to roll our own film (now thats a PITA), but once i got how all the different components work together i loved it, its what inspired me to get a the same camera you have (i absolutly love it). if i had the time and money to take the class you are in i would. im hoping to find one closer to broomfield (at front range community college hopefully) and a little cheaper. good luck make sure to post the pics you have to take for your assignments

Thanks for the encouragement Hollywood. I think I have to take a deep breath and just dive in!
This week's homework assignments:
1. Find my camera's IOS max out before noise enters (I'm thinking mine will be around 1000 before it really gets bad.
2. Take a shot of someone's hands while they are working on something
3. Use selective focus to emphasize a subject in a photo
4. Take a pic that tells a story
5. Take a pic that showcases lins and curves

They run for one month, every Monday, 6-9. The first class ran over, so I didn't get home until after 10 p.m. My dogs were pissed at me!

Oh man, rolling your own film...now that was a true test for us photo geeks back then.
I destroyed about 3 rolls of film trying to get them on the development rolls blind.
Digital is so much easier!!!

I was hooked just watching the picture develop in the chemical bath... everything else was pure fun... I loved every minute of my photo classes.
I have everything I need to set up a darkroom, but no place to do it, and no patience after using my D50!
