anybody on the board specialize in these? what subject matter tends to look best in black and white? That joke about Hilary Clinton on the GCC board got me thinking....

black and whites are awesome i love them, BUT you should always shoot the pic in color then with your computer software change it to black and white, because you can not change a black and white pic to color unless you are shooting in raw mode i believe. this give you the ability to still have the colored pic (just incase you want it in color) and the comp with change it for you. you can jsut take the pics you have already taking and change them to black and white and see what you like best in black and white, that would be a cool place to start, i might take my own advise and try that, it sounds cool!!!

I think "old" things like barns and homes look good that way....you can also get some nice night shots using existing lighting.....

You just want things with high contrasts... light to dark. Those look the best in B&W... definately take them in color!

I just started a roll of B&W film...yeah, imagine that, film! It's my first attempt, so we'll see how they turn out. So far, I've been taking sleeping baby pics -- the kids cooperate so well when they're sleeping! :). What Brutus said about high contrast is what I've always heard.
