Anyone here take panoramic photos? Do you just use the pano setting on the camera, stitch by hand, or use all the fancy lenses available for pano's?

I personally use the pano setting on my camera.

Cool shots, I've only done pano's by stitching and am just finally getting a handle on it. Don't even know if my camera has a pano mode.

Some of the newer handheld Canon's have some software that will automagically stitch and crop for you......
I have used the software with my Nikon's and the Canon SD900 that I have and it works pretty damn well.

My camera is a Canon, and yes, the stitcher works pretty good.

hmmmm, I'll have to dig into mine some more and find that.....thanks!!

Then I'll have to borrow someones epson printer and some roll paper....who to call.......

This was my first try, I learned later not to set it on automatic and to use settings I chose so I didn't get the variations in dark and light from pic to pic.

I'm havin tons of fun with it!!

My camera has a setting for it. When you use it, the software puts them into their own folder when it downloads the images, and then you can use the stitcher software. It's really painless and quick.

Coors Field or All Star? They both look similar. :)

Can't tell you how excited the kids were that we got to play in All Star Park. That place sits empty most of the year... :(

this might be a stupid question but, what is the setting you set your camera to? i have a canon rebel, i know how to use the manual settings and stuff, but is there a different one for panos?

Started this thread before the summer. Did anyone get any good panorama's in the last 6-7 months?

I got a couple...

Also, people on dpreview are swearing by Autostitch ( http://www.cs.ubc.ca/~mbrown/autostitch/autostitch.html ) for stitching pics together, regardless if you were in pano mode when you shot them.

I might go shoot a couple panos today (if it is too windy to fly) and do comparisons in Olympus Master and Autostitch to see which works better.

I love panos, except they are usually too small for my old eyes.

Nice shots! My Nikon has a pano mode and then their software helps you put them all together. Pretty fun to play with.

Do you know of a good place to get prints done? I do most of mine through Ritz online, but didn't see a pano option on there.

Never had prints of the panos made, so I am not sure... Bueller?

Went out to a park on my lunch hour today to test a couple of things, one of which was doing a pano with Autostitch vs one with Olympus Master. In the interest of saving some file size, each was sized at 25% of full.

This one came from Olympus Master ("large" flickr file, which means it was shrunk some more):
http://static.flickr.com/2356/2086584433_0d1a71d015_b.jpg (http://www.flickr.com/photos/bullockfam/2086584433/)

This one came from Autostitch:
http://static.flickr.com/2286/2086610885_9ff199b3bf_b.jpg (http://www.flickr.com/photos/bullockfam/2086610885/)

The following are 100% crops of the saved file (remember, it was 25% of full):

I isolated on this area because, in the Olympus Master version, you can detect (although barely) a seam above and to the left of the blue playground. It isn't overly detectable, but it is there. In the Autostitch version, it is not readily apparent where the seam is. I'll be using Autostitch from now on.

I think the Autostitch photo is more defined and more clear. Thanks for the tutorial.
