I oppose this as it's currently written.

I might support it IFF it included accountability metrics relating to speed, accuracy and service hours.

Without accountability metrics, it's just another junk fee.

I read it as any tranfer of any weapon which would include private sales- gonz

Wow, I wrote to the senators on that committee and got this back directly from Brophy. Not your typical polished yet non-committal pat political answer :D

Thank you for taking the time to write me about the fee increase for background checks.

You can absolutely count on my opposition to this bill and every other anti-Second Amendment bill that comes before the Senate this year or in the future. I hope it is clear that I intend to be the strongest defender of the Second Amendment ever to serve in the Colorado General Assembly.

What committee was that and what date was that vote?

It's scheduled to be debated in the Appropriations committee (see above) tomorrow.

Yota

That was the Judiciary Committee vote (http://www.leg.state.co.us/CLICS/CLICS2007A/commsumm.nsf/IndSumm/A7AB98231EF7747E87257280007D95BA?OpenDocument) from last month.

The bill is currently before the Appropriations Committee and is scheduled for debate tomorrow.

Here's who is working against the Second Amendment in Colorado

Colorado Ceasefire Capitol Fund (http://www.coloradoceasefire.org/)

And the list of bills (http://www.coloradoceasefire.org/2007Calendar.html) they are following.

This is the kind of stupidity that follows Democrats into power.

Brandon J.,

I have some interesting news for you on SB109. It was pulled off the calendar and won?t be considered in Appropriations tomorrow. I think that means that the Senators on the committee must not like the heat they are getting from great Americans like you. Maybe the sponsor has found out that he doesn?t have the votes to get the bill out of committee.

I firmly believe that when things are going your way, you should keep up the pressure. I hope that you will encourage the Senators on Appropriations to stand firm in their opposition.

I will keep an eye on the bill and try to keep you in the loop with any action that they will be taking to bring it forward. I hope that we can stop this thing in committee, but if not, we?ll have to take the battle to the floor.

Greg

This guy is my kind of politico.

Subject: RE: I Oppose SB 109 Unless Amended to Include Accountability Metrics

Thank you for contacting me regarding SB 109. You can count on me to continue my six year record of opposing any bill that limits our constitutionally guaranteed 2nd amendment freedoms. As you may be aware, the Appropriations Committee was to hear the bill Friday, March, 23 however the sponsor asked to have the bill taken off the calendar. Supposedly he does not have the votes necessary to pass the bill. I am on the Appropriations Committee and will certainly vote against it if and when it is finally heard.

Thank you for your efforts to protect freedom and liberty.

Sincerely,

Ted Harvey

any update on SB34, or should I turn in my Utah license already..??

SB34 is still not law. I read something about it a few days ago, but I forget. I'll check.

In any case, keep your UT permit because other states will still honor it. But I think you were just saying that to make a point. :)

I don't know what the holdup is on this one, but here's the history...

Brandon,

Thank you for contacting me about SB07-109, Senator Tupa?s attempt to create a new tax on guns.

I am very pleased to report that this morning in the Appropriations Committee; the bill was laid over until the end of session. Essentially killing this infringement upon our constitutional right to keep and bear arms.

While this session has been far from good for our right to bear arms, we can rejoice in this small victory for the 2nd Amendment.

Stand assured, I will continue to be a leader in the fight for our constitutional rights and freedoms.

Sincerely,

Ted Harvey

There have been what... 5 anti-2nd Amendment bills in the first 3 months the Democrats have been in power?

None of the bills do a damn thing to increase public safety, either.

They are showing us their misguided priorities and wasting time passing worthless bills.

Ding Ding......Winner.
It's another reason that I am stocking up on all sorts of stuff.
I just got through building a second AR, and am waiting on the parts for a third.
I still need to pick up a couple more 15 round mags for the H&K.
The one bill I am really scared about right now is the renewal of the AWB by McCarthy, or whatever her name is from NY.
