The wife and I go to at least one NASCAR race each year. This year we want to go to a short track race. Anyone been to either Martinsville or Bristol? Any recommendations for which one would be better to go to?

Haven't been to either, but I've always wanted to go to the Bristol night race.

Bristol will be a COT race, I don't think that Martinsville will be. Maybe that would be a factor for you?

Either one would be awesome to go to. If your wife gets a cold or something at the last minute, I'm only 25 minutes from DIA...........

Yeah, the night race at Bristol is in late August. That's what we're heavily leaning towards. Free airline tickets, free hotel and free car rental; one of the few perks of lots of business travel. :D

 We don't fly from, to, or through DIA. :flipoff2:

Didn't the say on post race that Bristel is tearing up the concrete after the first race of the season? If so I would consider that for the fall race. WHo knows how bad they will screw up the surface.

x3 for Bristol.. Fasted 1/2 mile in the world... Maybe you can catch your own CoT wing and they fly off the cars..

Nice, you will have fun. I was there for the season opener when I was in college. That is a great track and the crowd there is half the entertainment :D

LOL When we were looking at the various tickets available and the seating chart last night, Kathy said that we can't sit in the "family section" (there are actually three) because they are alcohol free. :D

Needless to say we're looking forward to it.

I don't know if they changed the rules but, we were allowed to bring in our own beer. Good thing to as it was my Dad, me, and one of my college roommates and the race day was 38F, with us wearing shorts because the weather man absolutely blew it. Not to mention that race set the record for the number of laps under caution so, we drank beer and heckled other fans :D

I don't think cold temps will be a problem in TN in August. We'll probably be glad it's a night race. We'll have to check into the BYOB issue. :)

You've got to love tracks that will let you bring in your own beer. The first time I went to the Indy 500 (before the CART/IRL split), I couldn't figure out why people had little wagons stacked with cases of beer walking to the track.

They would cart the beer to the gate, lock the little red wagon to the fence with a bike lock, and walk in carrying cases of beer.

At that point, I knew that I was a racing fan for life.

You made the right choice. Been to both and Bristol wins hands down. I don't think there is a bad seat in the house.

You cheer for the right drivers, Steve! NICE!!!

I've been a 24 fan for years, and the 48 car is a favorite as well. I even shop at his "home improvement" store over the other guy's to support the team. :)

8 points back in the standings? The Gordon haters are great. Definitely one of the best drivers out there, and he can even manage a win on a track where you actaully have to turn right.

His last trophy got 15.3 million in the divorce. I doubt he'd pay that for a phony "front" wife.

Now that Tony Stewart guy- hmmmmmmm, millionaire, single, likes to party, and no chick.................:rainbow:

He is dating some blonde bombshell... Last few races some hot little vixxxen on his shoulder. Na I like to tease people about Gordon. One of the top 3 drivers in the world for sure...

Ya know, I've never much cared for Jr., but I'm almost starting to root for him to win one 'cause he's doing soooooooo bad this year. :P
