I know they are totally different animals, but I found good deals on both and cant decide! Looking for a new toy to enjoy shooting and have some character to/pride in ownership. If I can carry it doesnt really make much of a difference, as I have a G19 with NS that fits the bill. Thoughts?

Buy both. You can never have too many, and they are going up in price.

x eleventy to the 27th power.
Beyond that, I'd take a Sig over a S&W any day of the week.

Like you said, those are two pretty different guns. The smith being a single stack 9mm and the 228 being double stack. The smith would more directly compare to the sig p225, as opposed to the p228.
My ex-wife had a 3913LS that was an excellent little gun (which I think is almost identical to a 3914 -but I'm not positive) We put several thousand rounds through it without any probs. If I was going to own a smith 9mm it would be a 3913LS.
That being said, the p228 is almosted coveted by 'sig folks', and sig's reputation speaks for itself. If I were looking for a carry gun and wanted something slim I'd say the smith, for everything else I'd take the Sig. (the g19 of course trumps both in that roll IMHO) :D

thanks for the replies everybody. i picked up a 3914LS (which is identical to the 3913LS except the 3914LS is blued instead of stainless) next to a Sig P228, and the P228 seemed more comfortable and happier in my hands. I still love Smiths, and would love to carry a 3914, but the Sig is what will be purchased tomorow :) I'll post some pics when I can.

$500 - $550 would be a good price IMO.
