Cripes, the distributor is as big as an air cleaner  I can imagine walking into an Autozone and asking for a cap and rotor for that sucker.

What engine is that? It makes crank to crank mating look positively ghetto.

Steve-
It's from your neck of the woods- the Speedway Museum in beautiful Lincoln, NE. A friend I race with sent the photo to me, and he can't recall the history, but I'm guessing it's a re-worked V-16 from way back in the day when Cadillac was putting them in their cars, around 1930 or so. That would likely account for the mechanical fuel pump.

Must be a heck of a heavy crankshaft, huh? Can you imagine the look at the guy's face at the machine shop when you bring that puppy in to have it turned down a couple of thousandths?

Looks like two SB chevys fused together. Heck if they can cut off two (4.6L) why not add eight????

It really does look like its based on an SBC or maybe a Pontiac block.

I like the Speedway Motors guys. I am from NE Nebraska originally and my dad used to buy stuff from them back in the day for him at least.

Would you get off the boards and call me!!!:D

I wish we could get a close up of the water pump that would be the "tell all" but it looks like it has a short SB chevy water pump....

I saw that you called and will call you in a few minutes. Friggen Californian Architects and their damn color choice discussions.

While I did go to school there it's not my neck of the woods. I'm a CO native, with lots of generations before me. That makes it all the more fun to root against CU. :flipoff2:

Cool pic though. I've bought a lot of stuff from Speedway back when I was building street rods. Haven't been to their shop for at least 10 years...

No kidding

I am from a small family Farm in Madison County. Was born in Norfolk and lived near Madison.

Norfolk's claim to fame is Johnny Carson
Madison's claim to fame is 1972 State Volleyball Champions and the sign is still up when you enter the town off the highway.
