Has anybody submitted their application lately? I am wondering if you have to have your signature notarized prior to turning in the application of if they can witness it there when you submit it?
The instructions state to sign it in front of a Notary but on the Witness signature line, it lists seems to state that the sheriff or designee has to be the witness. I thought I saw a post on here that it was acceptable to sign in front of the clerk when the application is submitted but can?t find it.
I?ve tried to call a few times today and have gotten phone mail each time and have a small window tomorrow to make the drive down there and submit this and would like to have everything as complete as possible before getting there.
Thanks
Brett

That's what it says on the Douglas Co. app too but they don't require that it be signed in their presence.

I suspect the best course would be to just give 'em a call ahead of time.

Almost positive you can do that at the window - that's how I handled it. They're super friendly about the whole process (as opposed to how I thought they'd be...)

They do it at the window. When you drop it off they will call you back later to schedule an appt for your pics and prints.

It's required under the statute that the inital permit application is signed in front of them.

It's within 18-12-205 -

(2) (a) An applicant shall complete the permit application form and return it, in person, to the sheriff of the county or city and county in which the applicant resides, to the sheriff of the county or city and county in which the applicant maintains a secondary residence or owns or leases real property used by the applicant in a business, or to the sheriff that previously issued a permit to the applicant. The applicant shall sign the completed permit application form in person before the sheriff. The applicant shall provide his or her signature voluntarily upon a sworn oath that the applicant knows the contents of the permit application and that the information contained in the permit application is true and correct. An applicant who knowingly and intentionally makes a false or misleading statement on a permit application or deliberately omits any material information requested on the application commits perjury as described in section 18-8-503. Upon conviction, the applicant shall be punished as provided in section 18-1.3-501. In addition, the applicant shall be denied the right to obtain or possess a permit, and the sheriff shall revoke the applicant's permit if issued prior to conviction.

I know the statue says that it needs to be signed in front of them, but when I submitted my permit in Douglas County they seemed shocked that I hadn't already had it signed and notarized when I got there

Filled out and submitted the paperwork on 2/8/07 Went and took prints and Picture the following week and received the permit in todays mail. Not bad at all. Maybe it was a bit faster since I had the background check already by applying for Utah's permit first.

I was told that the process changed with CBI. Mine only took about 30 days too from the date of prints and pics. It took 3-4 weeks to get the prints and pics taken though.

Congrats!!!

My wife just received hers from larimer County and it took right at a month. Much better than the full 90 days mine took. Anyone who wants to get theirs and hasnt done it yet might want to do it soon. Who knows what will happen next in our government.

I would rather be tried by 12 than carried by 6
