If you are looking for a job, don't forget to check out craigslist. Tomorrow I start my second job that I found via craigslist. It rocks!

Kris and I both found ours there too, as well as our house we are renting and the full doors I bought for the Jeep.

USA is being bought out. They are only taking our reps and clients. No staff. So we are technically unemployeed. Not sure when the actual day to close the office is, but we are for sure working until March 1. Most likely nother 2 months after that for me, but I would rather find a job while I am still employeed.

Some day they are going to have to start charging people for the use of Craigslist. The local news papers are taking it real hard with the loss of classified ad revenue. I began using Craigslist initially because the paper wanted $120.00 for a tiny ad. I agree Craigslist is incredible for buying, selling, bartering and finding jobs. I find it hard to believe anything as great as Craigslist will remain free.

I can't speak for jobs either, but I have bought and sold MANY vehicles on craigslist over the past few years.
The only bad thing is how many weird-o's call in with interest, having no money, silly questions, and the strangest trade items I have ever heard of. I have also had to deal with many "stand-ups" too as people will make appointments and never call or show.

I got rid of a ton of our basement crap within two days of posting it up on that site. It's the bomb for local exposure if you have something to get rid of. My husband also found the transfer case he needed for his old pickup on the first search he did there. Got it for a smokin' deal, too.
It's pretty simple really. If craigslist starts charging, I won't use it anymore.

CL is owned by Craig. 25% is owned by eBay.
Q: How does craigslist support its operations?
A: By charging below-market fees for job ads in 7 cities and for broker apartment listings in NYC.

Been hit repeatedly on CL by the guy I call the "habitual lowballer" as he pretty much fires lowball offers on anything in the autos section....Bad English with a font highlighted in green....I usually "e-mail heckle" him after he contacts me.

I had a fairly strange individual show up at my house last night. He walks in hands me the money immediately without seeing the item. I introduce myself and he says nothing what so ever. I am not sure he said anything during the entire transaction. Finally he looks at the item, picks it up and leaves. That does not sound so bad ultimately, but on average I converse for about an hour with most of the people who come and pick stuff up. Is it too much to ask a potential customer to introduce himself and shake your hand? Maybe the guy was crippled with introversion or something.

may sound like a rant, but really just 2 New Craigslist flake stories:
Was selling a truck on CL ....it was a really good deal. Posted Weds night...got calls immediately...Ad clearly states, 1st one here with the cash gets it.
1) then one guy wanted to come see it...Since it was dark, told him anytime following day (yesterday/Thurs)...he wants to come 1st thing in the AM.
Thurs morning he comes and we make a deal, leaves a deposit check of $500. Says he has to go back up North to his bank for some of the money and get the rest from "someone else"....I hang around for 3.5 hours until he comes back. Then he starts waffling and backs out. I'm guessing he failed to get some of the money, but who knows. I gave him his deposit check back and thank him for wasting the 1st half of my day.
2) In the mix of many calls and inquiries, get a call from a guy in Jackson, WY. Seems like a really nice guy and we have a 20 min conversation. He's highly interested. Says he has the cash in savings, but can't afford to spend it, so will check with his bank to see if he can get a loan. "If" he can get the loan, he "might" be able to come down on Sunday. He has to "see what his payments would be." He left it with a "We'll see what happens."
....Lotta question marks in there.
Sold the truck for full price this morning. (was listed for about 36 hours)
I email Jackson-boy to let him know, he replies back very upset. Says he was "gonna" apply for a loan this morning (already noon) and come down this weekend. Ends with "What's wrong with the world. Thanks alot."
He:
a) didn't give a deposit
b) couldn't use the cash in savings
c) wasn't sure he could get the loan
d) had to evaluate the payments
e) didn't ask me to hold it or make even a verbal commitment to buy/view
I don't know what I found more astounding....1) If it was a good deal, he was naive enough to thing noboby else had visibility or potentially making a move; or 2) he assumed I'd hold if for him on a "maybe" with no commitment to purchase http://www.sportscrew.com/vb/images/smilies/icon/+signs8-17+.gif -----People amaze me
I will give him credit that he was smart enough to call me on the number I listed in contrast to the idiots that just send e-mail.

He says it is OK to hold it until Sunday and to give him a call. I call him about an hour later around 5, no answer, so I leave a message to call me back. He then calls back at about 7 PM and says that another guy came and picked it up shortly after I left him the message.

CL rules. Bought my CJ there, plus bought'n'sold many parts. But, there are the unusual stories....
Worst I ever got burned I think I posted before. Posted rims for sale. I'm in Loveland, a guy in C. Springs replies that he wants them. We get on the phone and I agree to meet him halfway - on Colfax in Denver. We talk multiple times on the phones on the way there, double-checking mile markers until we were ten miles apart. Then, he never shows.
Oddest one was a post for "Chrome Jeep Grill - $25." I reply via email and ask from what kind of Jeep? He doesn't know. I email a pic of a CJ grill. Yeah, that's it, he emails. He's in Boulder, so I drive down. Get to his apartment. Can't even tell you how big apartment is because it is FILLED floor to ceiling, wall to wall, with stuff. Plus he has the BIGGEST dog I've ever seen (guy's pretty big himself, all the way around). Tells me not to sweat the dog, just don't make sudden movements. Basically, he's a dumpster diver - collects things and sells them. No idea who would have dumped a chrome CJ grill but, hey, it was worth $25.

my reply:
"Nope..
Sorry, it's tentatively sold for full price (sight unseen).....I'll never understand why people send e-mail when there's a phone number listed..
.
.
.
and I'd never take $3000, since it's already a smokin' deal......anything less than $3500 and I'd part it out, much like this buyer is doing just to get the engine.
.
.
.I also like when people use the word "cash" as if it would strengthen their negotiation position....I kinda thought that cash was a given, unless people assume I'll take food stamps.
.
.
Good luck in your search...If Buyer #1 flakes out, I'll relist, but it will have to be stagnant for a couple of weeks before I consider taking $3500.
Thanks for your interest."
I'm not one to rub a nose in it....but I'm feeling rage against the Craigslist idiots while praising the few savvy buyers in the crowd....

My brother in law is probably going to buy this Scout II from CL.
$4250, seems like a pretty good deal to me.

Still haven't messed with it. Need to run it up to the stealership and see if it was covered by the recall. If not, I'll be swinging by.
